

Jones Dewey “JD” Woodlief, 85 of Roswell GA departed this life on December 14, 2011. JD was born on May 3, 1926 in Franklin County NC, a son of the late Roy H. and Lillie Belle Wrenn Woodlief; he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jeannette Norton Woodlief. He was a WWII Navy Vetran on the USS Aircraft Carrier Shangrila, a graduate of East Carolina University with a Bachelors degree in Accounting, was first employed with Burroughs Company as a sales representative, then with State Farm Insurance which he retired from in 2001 after 47 plus years service. JD coached Little League Baseball in Murphey Candler Park in the 1960’s and coached Baseball in Roswell in the 1970’s. He was a past member of the Druid Hills Golf Club and the Brookfield West Country Club, and was a current member of The Rivermont Country Club, his hobbies included Golf and Fishing. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Denning Woodlief; son and daughter in law, Russ and Karen Woodlief, Marietta, GA, step sons and daughter in law, Jack and Jeanne Parkman, Buford, GA, Tommy Dees, Mt. Pleasant SC; Brothers, Bruce Woodlief, Buford, GA, Eugene Woodlief, Charlotte NC, Watson Woodlilef, Jacksonville, FL; sister Mabel Cash, Ashville NC;grandchildren, Taylor Stout, Marietta GA, Destiny Mirenda, Columbus, GA, Phoenix, Isaac and Gavin Dees, Mt. Pleasant SC; great grandchildren Cole, Jeanette and Kannon Mirenda, Columbus, GA. Services to celebrate the life of JD Woodlief will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2001 at 3:00 PM at the Roswell Funeral Home, with Dr. Kirk Bozeman officiating. He will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. Arrangements entrusted to Roswell Funeral Home.
