Michael Wescott Fletcher passed away on July 23, 2025. He was 68. Michael (“Mike”) was born to Charles Morris Cox Fletcher and Dorothy Julienne Fletcher (née Schmitz) in Waukegan, IL on December 16, 1956. Mike had a happy childhood alongside his five siblings. Mike was a brilliant entrepreneur, creating and owning several highly successful companies. Outside of work, Mike enjoyed countless hobbies like fast cars, flying planes, avidly reading, loving his family, and above all else – following Christ.
Mike had a deep love for life and the people around him. Those who knew Mike best admired him for his quick and innovative mind. Ten steps ahead, where others saw problems, he saw solutions – and had probably already completed whatever needed doing by the time you understood what the issue was. When he had a project, he approached it with meticulous precision, organization, and determination. Mike lived his life at full throttle, bringing an energy and enthusiasm that often outshined others in a graceful, yet powerful way. From household projects to building model airplanes like the P51D, vintage muscle cars, riding dirt bikes or simply grilling one of his famous steaks, he shared his passions wildly and often – “You have to try… come see how this works… listen to this…”
Mike had an immeasurable capacity for love, generosity, and perseverance. He loved his three girls and his family with every fiber of his being. He found love at first sight in his wife, Mary, and never failed to exclaim his love for her by recounting that story. He loved his daughters unconditionally, supporting them in every activity and hobby, and contributed greatly to raising them as self-sufficient, resilient, loving, courageous, faith-filled and generous women. He treasured friends who became family. As with all things in Mike’s life, he loved actively. Without hesitation, he would show up for the people in his life with advice, a laugh, or a spare tool. This love included his love for Jesus, evidenced by his faithful attendance at mass and adoration, a Knight of Columbus, and role within the fabric of St. Brigid at the Lenten Fish Fry and Christmas Tree Lot.
Mike knew how to truly cherish life. Whether it was an ordinary moment at the work bench in the garage, a campsite, or negotiating a big deal, he savored it in a way that allowed him to be able to say he truly had few regrets in this life. Quick with a joke, a laugh, and a big smile, he could appreciate the little things like a ride in the golf cart, a tussle with the pups, or blasting classic rock through the car radio. Mike filled our lives with music and laughter, and taught us to live life in the moment.
It's nearly impossible to hear the name “Mike Fletcher” and be left without a smile on your face from a funny and outrageous story or an act of selfless generosity. Mike’s laughter and legacy live on in us all.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Charlie, and brothers James Fletcher and John Fletcher. He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife, Mary Fletcher, daughters Sarah Olson (Luke) and Leah Fletcher, sisters Susan Richardson, Mary Jo Payan, and brother Charles Fletcher.
A funeral mass will be held Friday, August 1, 2025 at 11 A.M. at St. Brigid Catholic Church, 3400 Old Alabama Rd, Johns Creek, GA 30022, with internment at the columbarium. A reception will follow at the parish hall. Flowers are welcome as are donations to the Autoimmune Association in honor of his autoimmune disease, DISH (Diffuse Idiopathic Skeletal Hyperostosis).
