

Mildred Hall Murphy, 91 of Roswell, GA passed away April 6, 2017. Mildred was born in Warrenton, GA on November 14, 1925 to the late Thomas Joel Hall and Mattie Belle Norris Hall. She was the sixth of eight children and the last surviving member of her family.
After graduating from Warren County High School and studying two years at Mercer University in Macon, Mildred moved to Atlanta, GA where she met her future husband while working at Continental Insurance Co. Mildred and Joseph E. Murphy (Pat) married December 29, 1950. Pat’s career took them to Richmond, VA where Joe was born, Raleigh, N.C. where Kem was born and back to Atlanta where Ellen was born. They settled in Pat’s hometown of College Park, GA, were active members of College Park First United Methodist Church where Mildred taught 2nd grade Sunday School for over twenty years. Mildred and Pat moved to Roswell, GA in 1986 where they spent many wonderful years until Pat’s passing in 2009. Mildred was very close to her younger sister Sara who also resided in Roswell until her death in 2016. The sisters enjoyed dining out and developed many friendships with staff at restaurants such as Olive Garden and Alpha Soda. Mildred was a devoted wife, mother and friend and will be greatly missed by her family who are so thankful they had her for 91 years in good health until the last few months of her life.
Preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Joseph E. Murphy. She is survived by sons Joe (Laurie) of Roswell, GA Kem (Sharon) of Homer, GA and daughter Ellen of Roswell, GA and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
A visitation will be Saturday, April 8th from 6 – 8 p.m. at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Rd, Roswell, GA 30075. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 9th at 2:00 in the Chapel of Roswell Funeral Home with interment in Green Lawn Cemetery.
