Known for her generous nature and creative spirit, Nancy Varner was always ready with a kind word or a helpful hand. Mrs. Nancy Miller Varner, a long-time resident of Marietta, GA died on August 24, 2017, at age 65. She was born October 11, 1951, in Jackson, MS to John Luper Miller, Jr. and Rebecca Sauls Miller.
Possessed of both talent and a tireless spirit, Nancy had many accomplishments. She graduated cum laude from the University of Georgia in 1973. Nancy’s curious mind led her to explore art, history, and cuisine in more than a dozen countries as well as 46 states. Closer to home, she touched lives by being an active member of her church and by hosting numerous memorable gatherings of family and friends. Even after the death of her husband, Nancy’s strength of character ensured that her children grew up in loving warmth, able to begin equally vibrant journeys of their own, of which Nancy was so proud.
She was preceded in death by her husband and soulmate, Dr. Terry M. Varner, with whom she enjoyed 24 years of joy, laughter, and adventures. She is survived by her children – Zachary Varner and Ilia De La Rosa, Lucas and Jennifer Varner, Arwen and Peter Varner-Howland, and Mariah Varner – as well as her siblings, Virginia and Paul Johns, Tom Miller, and Richard Miller.
