Phyllis Tanner Helton

Mrs. Phyllis Tanner Helton, age 79, of Milton, Georgia passed away Tuesday, October 12th, 2021. Phyllis was born on June 12, 1942 in Vidalia, Georgia, the daughter to the late George Horace and Vera Irene Tanner.

Phyllis moved to Atlanta in 1962 and worked at C & S bank after attending business College. Soon after moving to Atlanta she was introduced by friends to the love of her life, Bob Helton. They got married on July 15, 1967. Phyllis worked until 1972 when she became a fulltime homemaker.

She was an active member of Eastside Baptist Church volunteering in many different roles. She was a devoted wife and Mother and was always seen at her kids’ school helping out, driving them to all of their activities, volunteering at the soup kitchen among other places, entertaining at her home, and overall being a wonderful wife and Mother. She had a way of connecting with people and touched many lives. Her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. The most important thing in Phyllis’s life was her family and her relationship with God. She was a caring and true Christian, always willing to help those in need.

After her husband passed away in August 2012, she moved to Milton, Georgia to be closer to family. It was a blessing to have her so close by these past 9 years.

Along with her parents, Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband, Bob Helton; two siblings, Lamar and William “Bill” Tanner as well as her grandson , Grant Wright. She is survived by her sister, Betty McNorrill, and three loving children: daughter, Pam Dennis (Scott), son Shan Helton and daughter Debbie Wright (Phil) and grandchildren, Magen Nelson (Bryan), Meredith Beck (Tim), Mary Ashlynn Dennis, Tanner Wright, Reece Wright and Cole Wright. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Cora Nelson, Emma Nelson and Pierce Beck.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 17th, from 12:30-2:30, with a graveside service directly following at Roswell Funeral Home (950 Mansell Road in Roswell). All are invited to attend the graveside service.
