

Robert Harry Dietz passed away on Sunday, February 12th at his home in Roswell, GA. He was 90 years old. Bob was born in Newark, NJ. He was the son of Charles and Mary Lambinus Dietz. After graduating from Metuchen High School in New Jersey, Mr. Dietz enlisted in the US Navy in 1944. He served on the USS Orvetta and the USS Trefoil during World War II. Bob later studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Florida. He then worked at Reynolds Smith & Hills in Jacksonville, FL as a Piping Designer. Bob also earned a BS in Mathematics from Jacksonville University in 1962. He then relocated to Georgia. In Atlanta, he taught mathematics at Emory University. Bob then worked as an Engineer specializing in Piping System Design and Stress Analysis for Simons Eastern Engineering and Ebasco Services. After retiring from Ebasco Services in 1988, Bob continued to work as a consulting engineer for numerous companies. He became a registered Professional Engineer in seven states during his 50+ year career. Bob was also a member of Masonic Lodge #165 In Roswell and an avid golfer.
Mr. Dietz was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 39 years, Elizabeth Hodges Dietz and his parents. He was also preceded in death by Marlene Dietz Warren, the mother of his two surviving daughters, Linda Newton of Anchorage, AK and Diana Dar (Khurram) of Pensacola, FL. Additionally, Bob is survived by a brother, Ronald Learn of Jacksonville, FL. Mr. Dietz also has six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
