

Born on December 9, 1943, in Orangeburg, South Carolina, Bob grew up with strong family values, a love of learning, and a deep dedication to service that shaped the course of his life. He earned his degree in Civil Engineering from Clemson University, a milestone that laid the foundation for his future endeavors. Following his graduation, he served honorably in the U.S. Army as a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War, demonstrating courage, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to his country.
Bob spent more than 30 years working internationally as a project and building manager for Union Camp (now International Paper), overseeing major plant implementation projects around the world. Bob’s work carried him to Ireland, Germany, China, and Chile. Chile held a special place in his heart, for it was there that he met and married Elba, beginning a love story that shaped the rest of his life.
Bob is preceded in death by his father, James; his mother, Christine; and his brother, Jimmy.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Elba Jones, and his children Jaime, Claudia and Connie, who will forever carry forward his gentleness, humor, and quiet strength. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Navie Carole Clariday, and his brother-in-law, Donald, both of Orangeburg, South Carolina, along with his dear nephews and nieces who held him close in their hearts.
Bob was a loving grandfather to his eight grandchildren and a proud great-grandfather to two great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy and purpose to his life.
He will be remembered for his warm spirit, quiet wisdom, and the love and stability he offered to everyone fortunate enough to know him. His legacy lives on in the family he adored and in the many lives he touched throughout his long and fulfilling life.
A ceremony with military honors will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery (2025 Mount Carmel Church Ln, Canton, GA 30114) on December 12 at 09:30 to honor Bob’s life and service. The family welcomes guests to gather afterward from 12:00-14:00 at the Orchards of Roswell Clubhouse (400 Village Lane Road, Roswell, GA 30075), to share memories and support.
