Sharon Starr Turner, 70 years old, of Suwanee, Georgia, passed away on February 15, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Shari was born April 3, 1952, in Brooklyn, New York to Frederick and Frances Starr. She was raised in Madison, New Jersey but spent nearly every summer of her life in her favorite place, Buck Hill Falls, Pennsylvania.
In her freshman year at Vanderbilt University, Shari met the love of her life, Donald Scott Turner, Jr. whom she married after they graduated in 1974. They raised three beautiful children, mostly in Alpharetta, Georgia. Shari dedicated her life to her family but after their children were grown, she decided to go back to school to earn her master’s in mathematics and start her teaching career. She taught Math at Taylor Road Middle School for 15 years before her retirement in 2017.
Shari and Don built a beautiful life together which they shared for over 53 years. They loved to travel to the beach and the mountains making memories with family and friends. Ocean Isle Beach in North Carolina was one of their most loved yearly trips going to the beach and eating lots of seafood. They particularly loved going down Red Rock in Buck Hill each summer and introduced this tradition to their children and grandchildren.
Shari is survived by her husband, Donald S. Turner, Jr., and her three children: Donald Scott Turner, III and his wife, Melissa, of Duluth, Georgia; John Russell Turner and his wife, Jorden, of Suwanee, Georgia; Kathryn Turner Bradshaw and her husband, Justin, of Cumming, Georgia; her six grandchildren: Hailey Starr Bradshaw, Allison-Marie Starr Turner, Katie-Lynn Starr Turner, Matthew Thomas Bradshaw, Henry Clay Turner and Jackson Charles Turner. She was predeceased by her parents Frederick Russell and Frances Williams Starr, as well as her sister, Elizabeth Starr Thomas. She is survived by her sisters: Cynthia Starr Bertram and her husband Peter; Linda Starr; and Debra Starr Barker and her husband, Wayne; her niece and nephews: Jacob Wyckoff Higgins, Russell Keith Starr; and Mollie Starr Higgins.
Shari has always been a caregiver for all and will be truly missed by her many friends and family.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 19th at 1 PM followed by a Celebration of Life at 2 PM at the Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, Georgia, 30076.
