Shirley Jones Weaver, a lifelong resident of Roswell, Georgia, passed away on August 6, 2025, at the age of 87. She was born on December 24, 1937, to the late Felton and Voncile Jones. Shirley, her mother, and her daughter all shared a Christmas Eve birthday, a cherished family memory that brought decades of laughter and money savings for Christmas and birthdays.
Shirley was a devoted mother. She was actively involved in her children's Cub Scout, Brownie, and Girl Scout troops. Some of her best memories were from when she worked as a substitute teacher at Roswell Elementary School, where she was a favorite among students and staff. Shirley enjoyed a 30-year career with the Roswell Recreation Department. She found joy in traveling, particularly to the scenic beauty of the mountains and Cades Cove. Shiley also loved to sing. She never met a stranger and was fondly remembered by all who met her.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved daughter Suzanne Stephens Holley, and her spouses, Jerry Stephens and Roddy Weaver.
She is survived by her loving son, Joe Stephens; grandchildren, Sam Holley (Ginger) and Sophie Holley (Mathias Laurrauri); stepdaughter, Angela Whaley (Rusty); stepson, Craig Weaver; step grandchildren, Lauren Gertz (Tyler), Anna Beatty (Nick), and Michael Whaley (Jillian); great-grandchildren, Sutton, Elliott, and Tucker; close cousins, Dennis and Shari Anderson; sister-in-law and best friend, Hilda Henson, and former co-worker and close friend Debbie Ephrem who we are convinced is an angel who walks on Earth.
Shirley's quote, "At the end of the day, we will be judged by the difference we've made and the lives we've touched," perfectly encapsulates the spirit of her life. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, from 5-7 p.m. at Roswell Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at the same location on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 11 a.m. Shirley requested and prefers casual attire. Shirley will be laid to rest at Green Lawn Cemetery next to her first husband, Jerry. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Roswell Ramblers at the Roswell Adult Recreation Center, https://www.roswellramblers.com/
