The world became a brighter, kinder place on June 28, 1942 when Terry was born in Doylestown, PA. God overflowed his soul with compassion, duty and integrity, and Terry poured it out tenfold. He attended Central Bucks High School where he met the love of his life, Gretchen, who he married in 1962. Until his death, he carried her senior portrait in his wallet everyday. The consummate gentleman, Terry faithfully opened every door for her and pulled out every chair for her to sit.
He served his country in the Army from 1966 to 1969 and volunteered as a firefighter for several decades, but his greatest acts of service stemmed from the countless acts of steadfast adoration he blessed upon his family. He was employed by Verizon for over thirty years. Later in life, Terry and Gretchen moved to Roswell, GA to be closer to their adult children and grandchildren.
In high school, Terry was an accomplished wrestler and competitive cyclist. Even in his later years, you could find Terry smiling and cycling. He never missed his kids' events, rain or shine, and he was a happy jungle gym for his grandchildren to crawl over. He instilled a love of puzzles in his grandchildren as he would give them puzzle gamebooks with every visit. One of the greatest joys of his life was sitting in his sunroom with his wife watching the plethora of birds swooping and singing in their backyard. He was a meticulous gardener and a dedicated archivist. Terry loved the beach and could spend hours body-surfing and floating in the waves. There wasn't a thing Terry couldn't fix, a sandcastle too tedious to build, and no task was too big or too small. His patience was like his hugs: all-encompassing and sincere. Terry's spirit was as unwavering and dependable as his selflessness and the warmth he stoked in his children and grandchildren's hearts. A picture of Terry appears alongside the definition of 'devotion,' as well as for the words 'gentleman,' 'genuine,' and 'giving.' He leaves behind a legacy of love and grace.
Terry is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-two years, Gretchen (née Kough); devoted sons Brian (Katherine) and John (Dorcas), and his cherished grandchildren Carole Ann, Gretchen "Scotti,” Matthew, Jonathan, Samuel, Will and Elle who miss their 'PopPop' dearly. He leaves behind brother Robert Jr. (Marie); sister, Kathy (Geoff) Class, and brother, Tim, and sister-in-law Dianne Wegener as well as his many treasured nieces and nephews. Their hearts swell in mourning Terry, but they take immense comfort knowing he is in Heaven.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Robert. Sr. and Anna Mae (née Price) and his brother Dennis (Colleen) and sister-in-law, Barbara.
Those who knew him were touched by his love, and he is deeply missed.
