

Mr. Thomas Jefferson "Tom" Tucker, 82, of Alpharetta passed away on July 16th, 2013. Born in Monticello, Arkansas, Mr. Tucker lived most of his life in Mississippi. After graduation from Duck Hill High School in Duck Hill, Mississippi, Tom attended Mississippi State University until being drafted into the US Army. During his service, Mr. Tucker achieved the rank of Sergeant, training troops for deployment to Korea at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C. After being honorably discharged, Mr. Tucker graduated from Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi, where he received a bachelor’s degree in business. During his business career, Mr. Tucker worked for several companies in the fertilizer industry. In the late 1960s, Tom moved his family to Atlanta where he was the General Manager for the US corporate office of the Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan. Upon retirement, Mr. Tucker pursued a dream-moving to Nashville, Tennessee, where he owned and operated a glass company, TyZak Glass, which was named for his two grandchildren. After selling the glass company, Mr. Tucker moved back to the Alpharetta area to be close to his daughter and grandchildren. Tom was an active alumni of Mississippi State University and Mississippi College and belonged to the local VFW in Alpharetta. He has been a member of Crabapple First Baptist Church since the 1990s.
