
Travers David Stultz, 87, of Roswell, Georgia, known as Ted, passed away on September 16, 2013. Born in Frederick, Maryland on January 12, 1926, to George William and Mabel Kreh Stultz, Ted was an excellent student and athlete. One of his memorable accomplishments, at age 16, was an astounding local record of 230 feet, swimming underwater at the Braddock Heights pool swim meet. After graduating from Frederick High School, he moved to St. Louis to enroll in Parks Air College to pursue his passion to build and fly airplanes. He served in the US Army and Air Force in WWII and then returned to St. Louis University at the end of the war to finish his undergraduate degree. He deeply loved his dear wife, Sallie, who predeceased him by 3 ½ years. Their marriage on August 30, 1952 of 57 years has been an inspiration and example to others. They moved to Atlanta where Ted began his career at Lockheed Georgia as an aeronautical engineer. He returned to graduate school at Georgia State University where he earned a MBA with a concentration in Economics. After 31 years of service with Lockheed he retired in February of 1983. He and Sallie then entered into a travel agency business and enjoyed many years of world-wide travel. Ted was a lover of music and sang with a deep baritone voice. He was active in numerous choral groups at Christ the King and Holy Spirit Churches and in the Atlanta Men’s Choral Guild. He continued his vocal pursuits as a member of St. George Villagers Choral Group. He loved linguistics, genealogy and storytelling. Ted and Sallie resided in Atlanta for 55 years and in 2005 moved to St. George Village, a senior community of old and new friends in Roswell, GA. Ted is survived by four children: David Stultz of Smyrna; Devvie and husband Buz Mayo of Johns Creek; Kit and husband Bal Ballentine of Greenwood SC; Lisa and husband Don Turner of Roswell. Ted has been the proud grandfather of nine grandchildren: Michael, Katie and husband Brian Mitchell, David and Maggie Mayo; Sarah, Jessica and Wells Ballentine; Parrish and Morgan Turner. He will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones. The Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, Sept. 21 at 10:30 AM. St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church, Roswell, GA. The family will receive condolences immediately following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. George Village.
