

Vera Elizabeth Pate Wills of Atlanta died on March 21, 2026 in the early morning hours. She was 99 years old. Vera was just 8 weeks and 1 day from turning 100 years old. She had her mind to the end; and had her mobility up until a few weeks before she died.
Vera leaves behind her sons, John Glen Wills, III, and John Edwin Wills, II; Twin Grandsons, Alexander Wills, and Andrew Wills; Daughter-in-law, Linda V. Wills (John David); Nephew, David Pate (Marilyn); Nieces, Sherri Smith and April Meyers.
Vera Wills was predeceased by her Husband, John Glen Wills, Jr.; her son, John David Wills; Step-daughter, Glenda Wills Holland; her sister, Mary Ellen Pate; Nephews, John Charles Pate, III, John Stephen Pate (Patti), and John Timothy Pate.
Vera was a High School graduate of an all-girls school in Augusta, GA. She worked for Southern Bell in Augusta, GA and later transferred to Southern Bell in Atlanta around World War II. Vera married and became a full time mother. She became a volunteer room mother (teacher assistant) inside the school.
She was a member of Alpharetta First United Methodist Church. And, she attended Sunday School at Peachtree Baptist Church in Atlanta.
Vera had a very full life. She lived through the Great Depression and World War II. She loved to travel. Once she was left in Panama after a mutiny on her cruise ship vacation. Her only regret in life was giving up her driver’s license at 86.
Vera was very loving, generous, the kind of friend that you’d like to have, and well-liked by her neighbors. She was a wonderful and understanding mother. Vera kept up with the news, current events, and always voted. She made an excellent Southern Style macaroni and cheese. She enjoyed Fried Chicken Livers and her favorite meal of Alaskan King Crab Legs.
A visitation will be held at the Roswell Funeral Home Monday March 30th, 2026 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with services following at Green Lawn Cemetery at 12:00 pm.
Vera Wills will be greatly missed.
