I never knew Vincenzo, but I know the kind of man he was through having known his son Attilio, and wife Tracey, for many years. 
I know his love for his country by seeing Attilio’s pride in all things Italian, and through some of the stories of Italy and Chicagoland that I’ve heard. 
I know about his work ethic, from having worked with his son for more than a decade. 
I know his love for wine from all of the stories of the wine making escapades that were told over lunch. 
I know he cared for people, because Attilio was always ready to help a friend in need. 
But most of all, I know his love for family because I’ve witnessed the love and devotion Attilio and Tracey have for their family.
Losing such a great person is both sad and painful, but think of the happiness and joy that we shared through having him and his influence in our lives for 85 years…Even if, in my case, it was experienced indirectly. 
My sympathies and heartfelt prayers for the entire Piscopo family.


I'll always remember how sweet Vincenzo was to me and my girls.  He always made a point of pinching our cheeks at church and showing his affection.  I always had a sweet bond with Vincenzo.  He would let me talk to him about God and pray for him.  I am so grateful to God that he reached Vincenzo's heart the way he did.  I look forward to seeing him in heaven praising God like never before and dancing for joy with the Savior.  I will miss you very much, Vincent.

I have so many wonderful memories of my father-in-law.  I will never forget how happy he was when surrounded by family and friends. He loved sharing tales of life in Italy, talking about soccer, showing off the bounty from his garden and making wine but most of all, he loved his family.  My father-in-law did not speak English very well and I understand very little Italian, however, we were able to somehow communicate.  He always made me feel loved and welcomed.  I’m thankful that our boys had 14 years with their nonno.  He has been at every birthday, special event, performance, sports games, etc.  He was able to pour so much of himself into them and I know they will carry that piece of him in their hearts forever. Thank you for being an amazing father & grandfather. Thank you for shaping your son into the man he is today. He is dedicated, loving, kind and hard working just like you.  Through Attilio, Rachele, Pat and our children, your legacy will live on.  We love you, Daddy & we will miss you always.  

Vincenzo will always be in hearts.   As a brother-in-law and uncle to our children, he was always kind and welcoming to all. He took pride in all his family...wife, children, and grandchildren, and loved to share their successes with everyone.  We will always remember his passion for his beautiful family,  his genuine hospitality, his thriving garden, his delicious wine,  and his beloved soccer!  He was always a vibrant man full of enthusiasm for the things he loved, and these are the times that will stay with us forever.  His suffering here is gone, but heaven gained a wonderful man whom we look forward to being with once again someday.  

My father taught me about hard work, respect, our Italian heritage and the art of making wine. 

We had fun times going to Cedar Lake in Illinois with the families but before we would start the trip the “men” (my dad and uncles) would spread a big map on the hood of the car, they would all stand over it and contemplate the best way to get there….turns out it was only 30 miles away!  My dad loved his soccer. He and Uncle Mike were the assistant coaches of our soccer team when I was growing up, he would take me to my soccer practices and be there for all the games. He really loved that. 

So many memories of making wine. One time when dad and I were bottling wine, he started filling one bottle and then moved to the next one, however, he forgot to plug the hose before he moved it and when I told him he had wine on my shirt, shoes and pants he said, “Ufa!! Let’s go! Hurry up!”.  He enjoyed teaching and playing cards (Scopa) and others games with my boys. You were an amazing father and grandfather.  I am blessed to have a dad that was faithful, dependable, kind and loved his family.  I will truly miss you Pops. We’ll see you again one day.

When we first moved to America, we lived with my grandparents on Bell Ave.  just north of Polk St. in Chicago. We then found an apartment on Polk St. It had 4  bedrooms, a  kitchen, dining and living room. He found me a job working at Joe’s Grocery store at the corner of Claremont & Taylor St. It was fun and hard work. I also recall going to the dunes in Michigan & Indiana a few times and would have a great time. We then moved to Elmwood Park and when I started high school, I joined the wrestling team. When my dad would get together with some of his friends, he would very proudly tell them about me being on the team. When my sister got married, my dad was happy and sad at the same time. It was the first time I saw him cry.  At the time I did not think much about it, but now looking back I realize how he felt to have his daughter getting married. My dad was dedicated to his family and he had just a few thinks that he loved: gardening, making wine, canning tomatoes, and of course soccer. He was either at the Italian club or at a friends house watching soccer games. My parents then moved to Georgia and we (Karen and I) would come down every year with the kids to visit. It was hard when we had to leave since it would be another year before we would be able to see them again. I recall one year we came to visit, Rachele was just about 2. One morning I went down to the kitchen and saw my dad with Rachele, she was siting on the big island and he was playing nochi-nochi with her, then Rachele reached out and put her arms around dad to hug him. What a precious image of my dad with his one & only granddaughter, he called her principessa (princess). My dad had a full life with 3 children and 8 grandchildren and loving it. Now that he has passed, from this side of heaven, everything looks bleak, dark and sorrowful and I will miss him dearly, but when we get to the other side, there is hope, love, peace and I will rejoice when I will see him again.

There's a lot I can say about my nonno, but I'll keep it short and sweet. There are many things I'll miss about nonno; like the way he would walk with his hands behind his back everywhere he went, the high socks he would wear when he was at home, the times he used to yell at me and Christian playing in the backyard, and the way he would rub our noses together when we said goodbye. The word I think of when I remember nonno will always be "dedicated." He was dedicated to soccer, no matter who was playing, dedicated to playing cards with the family, even though he might've cheated a time or two, dedicated to his wine, which Jesus now has the pleasure of tasting, and dedicated to his family. 

One of my favorite memories with nonno will always be when he came to my college graduation in this year. Nonna wasn't feeling good so she wasn't able to make it, and if you know anything about Nonno, he would've stayed with her for anything, but he didn't want to miss my graduation. When I saw him after the graduation and we went to take a picture together, he started to tear up. I looked at him and said, "what's wrong", he looked at me, smiled, gave me a kiss on the cheek, and a slap on the face, I knew that he was proud of me. Tí Amo Nonno 

Romans 14:8 "For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's." 

I loved it when Nonno would get so happy when he played the card game, "Hand and Foot" and "Shcoba".   I loved seeing you smile.   I liked it when you would play nochi-nochi with me!  I'll miss you!

How many of us have a green thumb and can coax and nurture plants to life?  My father-in-law had 10 green thumbs and could encourage the growth of all things green!  Squash, zucchini, tomatoes, basil, figs - you name it -he could grow it!  

Another talent of his was the art of serving.  Before Maria and Vincent moved from Illinois to Georgia, my husband Pat and I would eat over at their house about once a week.  Vincent would be busily setting the table, cutting up vegetables, sweeping, and performing other household tasks, serving his wife, Maria.  This tradition continued after they moved to Georgia.  In the Fall, we'd come over to help with canning tomatoes and my father-in-law would have already been up two hours before preparing the tomatoes for canning!  He loved serving his family!  

He was a man of action, always eager to get things done.  Diligent, strong, hardworking, and faithful.  He came to an understanding and acceptance of Christ's finished work on the cross, realizing any works he had done weren't good enough to merit salvation.  All of us who've placed their trust in Christ I know can join me in knowing Vincent is in heaven.  Our hope is to see him there one day, spending time in God's presence, tending bountiful vineyards and fields, and joyfully serving his Savior.


My nonno was many things to many people, but to me, he was my Nonno Vincenzo. To me he was the Nonno who could fix any broken toy I had. Growing up he had this closet in his basement in Chicago (which if you didn’t know, all old Italians in Chicago have pristine untouched first floors, but then live in their basements, and cook in their garages...strange) and in this closet I just always remembered him having every weird tool known to man, and he was always able to fix anything that needed fixing. 

My nonno loved his family, he loved his classic outfit of shorts, dego T, and socks with crocks, he loved his wine, and most of all he LOVED his soccer. When a coworker this past year told me Juventus ( my nonno’s favorite soccer team) was coming to play the MLS All Star team in Atlanta, I knew we had to get tickets. I coordinated with my dad, cousins, uncles, brothers, and nonno’s friends to make the game happen. My nonno didn’t like going to many unknown crowded places, especially the older he got, but I knew even at 85, that a Juve game would be something he couldn’t resist. The game was August 1st, 2018, just about month before he would be admitted to the hospital. That game for me, and everyone else in this room who went, will always be remembered as my Nonno’s last hoorah with the boys, and his family, and there is nothing more his style than that. 

My Nonno lived a full life, he saw his three children grow up and start families which would yield 8 grandchildren, and he lived long enough to see three of those grandchildren graduate college, and one of them get married. Nonno Vincenzo  was many things to many people, I am his first Namesake, my cousin Vincent is his second, my Nonno’s name lives on through us, but his Legacy lives on through all of my family, and all of you here today. Thank you all for your love and support. 

I love you Nonno, and I’ll see you again, soon enough. You and Jesus save a glass of vino for me. 


Nono Vincenzo you will
be in my heart forever ! I remember your chicago house where I have my first memories of you and your tiny steep staircase. I remember always watching the sound of music when we visited. In Atlanta after you moved and when I was older we made wine and tended your garden! Those Atlanta memories more fresh in my mind I will always hold dear. You were such a determined man and I have learned so much from that. Love you always.

My daddy, Vincenzo Piscopo, was loved by many and remember by all who met him.  He was a simple   but hard working and fun loving man.  He loved his family, his wine making and his soccer.  I will miss watching him tell us how to make the wine and then sneak to do it himself.   I will miss listening to him discuss soccer teams and players with my son Nicolas but most of all I'll miss seeing him interact with my mom, Maria, day in and day out.   I will although see him again one day in heaven, you see he asked Jesus into his heart in a Hospital room when my sister and brother in law Pat and Tony Allegra visited him and led him in the sinners prayer in 2008.   I’m so thankful for the assurance in Christ that we will meet again one day!
I thank the Lord for Blessing my Dad with 85 years of life on this earth, growing old together with the love of his life, Maria, for over 60 years.  He witnessed the birth, life, and marriage of his three children, the birth of eight grand children, and the marriage of his Grandson Vincenzo to Taylor this past year. We will always cherish these wonderful memories we had with my dad. His legacy will continue until the Lord calls each of us home one day.   

I will miss you always.....I love you to heaven and back Daddy!

Vincenzo was a proud but simple Italian man that my family loved.
We loved sharing family dinners  with his family , Vincenzo would serve his home made wine and the smile that was on his face when we tasted  that wine 🍷 and told him how great it was, would light a town. He truly loved his family and cherished his friends. He will truly be miss, but because our hope is on the Lord we will see him again one day.

Always talking about Serie A, his Juventus and my Napoli, always with a joke and a smile. I’ll miss our short talks, too few. I will always remeber you when making wine.

Vincenzo is today twice a conqueror, and his own name proclaims it.  In Latin the meaning of the name Vincenzo is Conqueror.  We now miss him, but it will be just for a brief time.  Soon we we will be with Vincenzo and our Lord Jesus.  And we all will be conquerors as well, like with Jesus, conquering over death.  We will always remember Vincenzo for one thing, his warm smile when he greeted you.  At this moment, I can picture Vincenzo waiting at the gates of heaven, looking and waiting for his loved ones to meet, touch their faces, hug and welcome them into eternal life.

I'll always cherish the many wonderful memories with my father-in-law over the years. One memory that stands out is when I asked his permission and blessing to marry his daughter Rachele.  We were in the basement of his house in Elmwood Park, IL.  We sat around the kitchen table, and I told my in-laws that I loved Rachele with all of my heart, and I wanted to marry her.  My father-in-law got all teared up and said well, if  you "like her", okay.  I'll miss my father-in-law over the upcoming days, he was always fun to be around, making wine , making sauce, eating together! Beautiful memories. Thank you Lord for Blessing me with such a wonderful Father-in-Law.

Our hearts are heavy for the loss of our beloved Zio.  We have many good memories with him from helping out in his garden to making wine to playing cards with him.  He was a strong warrior living the last years with his heart condition and making his life the best life possible.  His competitive nature helped him strive to achieve the best and that was evident when you would walk through his garden.  His passionate heart could be seen through his love for soccer.
