Warren Russell Pafford, 91, of Marietta, GA passed away peacefully on May 8, 2016. Warren was born on September 17, 1924 to Russell and Gladys Pafford, in Sterling, Michigan. He had the unusual distinction of being born on the same date as both his grandfathers.
His family moved briefly to Flint, Michigan and then settled for the remainder of his childhood in Bay City, Michigan. Warren graduated from Bay City Central High School in 1942. He served in the United States Navy from 1943-1946. In 1946 he earned a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Michigan and was a proud Wolverine alumnus his entire life. He enjoyed singing the U of M fight song while accompanying himself on the piano.
Warren met Carolyn Mowat, while attending church in Bay City. They married in October, 1947. The marriage lasted 66 years, until her passing in 2014. During this time they were blessed with three children and three grandchildren. Warren excelled as a doting grandfather and took great pleasure in being with his grandchildren.
He began his career selling real estate in Bay City, and then worked for Dow Chemical Co. and eventually Eaton Corp. Rather than retire, he began a business with his sons for an additional 17 years. His favorite past times were golfing, gardening and he was an avid reader.
Warren is survived by his brother Wendall and sister Ellen, both of Bay City, MI; son, Randall W. Pafford of Woodstock; daughter Marcia L. Konke of Marietta; son Todd M. Pafford (wife Gail) of Duluth, and grandchildren: Christopher G. Konke of Arlington, VA, Kimberley B. Konke of Marietta, and Micah J. Pafford of Duluth.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 11:00am at the Marietta Bible Chapel.
