

Wayne Harrison Carter, beloved husband, father, brother, and uncle, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025, at the age of 71. Born in Sandy Springs, Georgia, on July 18, 1954, Wayne spent almost his entire life in Roswell, Georgia, where his roots ran deep and his impact was lasting.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Debbie Carter; his son, Charles Justin Carter; his sister, Penny Adams; his brother, Thomas Carter; and his cherished niece and nephew, Heather King and Paul Marshall. Wayne was preceded in death by his loving parents, Melrose and Thomas Carter, and his sister, Helen Marshall.
Wayne became a firefighter at 18 years old and joined the Fulton County Fire Department in 1978, beginning a lifetime of service and commitment to others. He retired from the department in 2007, having spent many years bravely protecting his community. Wayne also volunteered with the Roswell Fire Department, extending his service with compassion and humility. In his later years, he found joy working for the City of Roswell, remaining engaged in the town he knew and loved.
Wayne was a man of many gifts—a source of comfort, laughter, and wisdom. He loved nature and animals, and had an uncanny knack for fixing just about anything. From science facts to practical know-how, Wayne was a wellspring of knowledge—always ready to lend a helping hand or brighten a room with one of his signature jokes.
He led by example, not only as a devoted husband and loving father, but as a compassionate friend and neighbor. His legacy is woven into every life he touched and every act of kindness he gave so freely.
A Visitation will be held from 4-6 PM on Friday August 1, 2025 followed by a Celebration of a Life Well Lived at 6 PM at Roswell Funeral Home 950 Mansell Road Roswell, GA 30076.
Guests are encouraged to bring personal stories, memories, and photos of Wayne to share. This gathering is intended to be a joyful celebration of his life, filled with laughter, heartfelt reflection, and camaraderie.
In honor of Wayne’s favorite refreshment, Coca-Cola will be provided for all to enjoy.
Wayne will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
