

Weldon was born on June 6, 1943 in Birmingham, AL to Weldon, Jr. and the late Darnella Smith Bishop .He transitioned on February 24, 2016 in Alpharetta GA. He graduated from A.H. Parker High School, Birmingham in 1961 and went on to matriculate at Tennessee State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology in 1967. After college he served his country in the U.S. Army. Shortly after discharge he relocated to Atlanta in order to work in dept. of Pharmacology at Emory University.
Weldon began a long professional career with Western Electric, which eventually became AT&T, and later Alcatel Lucent Technologies. He retired in 2001 after 29 and a half years. After enjoying only 6 restful months in retirement, he decided to return to the work world at Valentine Enterprises, Inc. He retired a second time in December 2012 due to failing health
Weldon was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a news and trivia buff and never failed to read and watch the evening news to keep his mind sharp, Always a gentleman. He loved his children and became a doting grandfather. He was affectionately known to them as “Papa” . He gave his heart to God at an early age and become a member of Evergreen Baptist church in Birmingham. He later joined St Ann Catholic Church in 1997 after worshiping there for more than 20 years. He was a faithful and dedicated member until his death.
Weldon was preceded in death by his mother Darnella Bishop and brother Wesley Bishop. He is survived by his wife Nancy J. Bishop; son, Weldon Bishop IV and daughter Inger Nicole Veazie (Dr. David) ; grandchildren David and Gabrielle Lillie Veazie; father, Weldon Bishop Jr, (Evelyn) of Birmingham , AL; siblings, Glenda Palmer (Eddie) of Hoover, AL, Donna Horn (William) of Ashburn, VA, Michael Bishop (Cassandra) of Silver Springs , MD, Almeria Bishop of Moody, AL and Davey Bishop (Frances) of Powder Springs ,GA; sister in-law, Dr. Icey L. Johnson and brother in-law Dr. Frank William Johnson Jr (Velyna); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends ..
