Rusty was born to the late Richard Carroll Carter and the late Evelyn Ream Carter on April 27, 1957 in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated M.D. Collins HS and worked at Price & Wood Opticians for 23 years before starting his own company Carter's Mobile Opticians in 1995. He was a collector of collections who enjoyed going on crusies, reading fantasy novels and was considered a bit of a Trekkie.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 28 years, Suki McKimmey; son, Chris Carter and his wife Kimberly; stepson, Lyn McKimmey and his wife Suzanne; granddaughter, Katheryn Simpson and her husband Kallen; sister, Margie Foster and her husband Ronnie; brother, Wayne Carter and his wife Karen, and many extended family members and friends.
The Carter family will receive friends on March 19, 2022 from 1:30 PM until 3:30 PM at Roswell Funeral Home. Services will immediately follow with Scott Miller officiating. The family will hold a private inurnment at Westview Cemetery at a later date.
