

Bill was born on June 7, 1931 in Norfolk, VA and he lived there until graduating from Maury High School. He went on to serve in the US Air Force where he specialized as a radar and electronic engineer. Upon leaving the service, he worked at Philco for a few years and then spent the remainder of his career at Burroughs/Unisys Corporation until his retirement.
He was a loving husband and a devoted father and grandfather to his family and will be greatly missed. He loved sports, especially the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs. His favorite charity was the American Red Cross and he was a passionate blood donor throughout his life.
He is preceded in death by his father William Harold Haynes, his mother Carlotta Hearthway Haynes and his granddaughter Amanda Jane O’Brien.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Ernestine Mader Haynes of Roswell, two daughters Susan H. O’Brien of Marietta, Renate (Stephen) H. McGraw of Roswell and son William (Tonya) A. Haynes of Flowery Branch, his sister Jane H. Haynes of Tampa, FL, his grandchildren Kaitlin O’Brien, Emily McGraw, Anna McGraw, Austin Haynes, Haley O’Brien and Kenzie Haynes.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 22 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Roswell Funeral Home.
