William Sidney Livingston, 85, died peacefully on January 8, 2025, in Woodstock, Georgia following a prolonged battle with Alzheimer’s. Born on August 3, 1939, in North, South Carolina, Sid was the oldest son of Malcolm Ernest and Janice Farrell Livingston. He shared 66 years with the love of his life, Judith Amaker Livingston. Sid and Judy shared a love story that stood the test of time, as they met in first grade and started dating in the seventh grade.
Sid lived a life marked by faith, dedication to family, and an unwavering commitment to hard work. He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and served his country with honor in the United States Air Force. A lifelong member of the Methodist Church, he was active as Sunday School teacher, youth counselor, men's group leader, lay worship leader, and a participant in both local and foreign missions, including UMVIM-SC. His devotion to God was the foundation of his life, and he often shared that true success came from putting faith in God first, followed by family and steadfast commitment.
Sid embraced life with tremendous enthusiasm. He found joy in fishing, hunting, camping, painting, and playing sports, especially golf. Gardening and yardwork alongside his wife brought him much happiness. Known for his servant’s heart and tireless work ethic, Sid was respected by all who knew him. He had a remarkable ability to fix anything and took great pleasure in sharing this gift.
Sid is survived by three children, Katheryn (Kathy) Livingston Berardi (Garry), Cary Sidney Livingston (Lynda), and Ashley Livingston Cavender (Jeff); his siblings Malcolm Ernest Livingston Jr. and Jan Livingston Creech.
He was lovingly known as Poppy to seven grandchildren—Joshua Tillman Estes, Caroline Dolores Estes, Madelyn Livingston Wright, William Blake Cavender, Emily Katheryn Estes, Elizabeth Lynn Cavender, and William Harrison Livingston; and six great-grandchildren—Louisa Dove Estes, Ayden Caspian Estes, Tillman Jude Estes, Addilyn Sidney Walker, Layla Ansley Estes, and Zoe Katheryn Estes.
A Celebration of Life will take place on March 15, 2025, at 3:00 PM at the Amaker Pond in Orangeburg, South Carolina (112 Limestone Rd). A cookout will follow as a time for family and friends to gather and share stories in remembrance.
Sid’s legacy of love for God and family will continue to inspire those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to all who are blessed to have shared in his life.
