Dorothy Jean Harris of Brea, California closed her eyes for the last time on April 6, 2016 at Placentia-Linda Hospital in Placentia, California. Jean, a twin, was born in Hysham, Montana on October 11, 1925 to Michael and Regine Catherine (Hidding) Snedker. She grew up in Hysham and was a graduate of Hysham High school in 1943. After high school Jean worked at the Bremerton Ship Yards in Bremerton, Washington with her sisters until 1945 when World War II ended. After settling in Spokane, Washington Jean attended and graduated from Witman’s Business University (BSU) where “Graduates Got Good Jobs and Held Them”. She met John T. Harris (Jack) in January of 1953 and, after a whirlwind romance, they married on October 19 of the same year at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Spokane. In 1964 they made Brea, California their permanent home. She was devoted to Jack, making their home a wonderful place. Her afternoon had her preparing an amazing dinner for him each night. She and Jack enjoyed traveling and went to many places in the United States and Europe. They would visit her mother, sisters and nieces and nephews in Spokane annually along with her brother in Montana as they could. Once Jean and Jack moved to Brea, California it was not much longer and her twin sister Joan and family moved to California, living within walking distance. As the family historian, if you wanted to know any history about the early days, she was the person to ask. She always remembered birthdays and anniversaries with a card and a long, hand written note. Jean was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Angela’s Mercini Catholic Church in Brea, California for 52 years. She is survived by her husband John T. Harris (Jack) of 62 years; sister Colleen Dodroe of Spokane, Washington; nieces and nephews Gloria (Sam) Bellavia of Temecula, CA, Michelle Murphy of Santa Ana, California, Vicki (Claud) Alkire of Glen Haven, Colorado, David Dodroe of Spokane, Washington, Don Dodroe of Seattle, Washington, Steve (Beate) Dodroe of Georgia, Paul (Maureen) Dodroe of Spokane, Washington, and Correen (Brian) Castaldi of Lolo, Montana along with many grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
