Teresa Avalos, 85, died Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at the Brookdale Senior Solutions assisted living facility in Walnut, California where she lived for the past three and a half years after a courageous battle with cancer and in the presence of her children.
She leaves her sons, Robert Villanueva and Ralph Villanueva, and daughters Maria Gonzales, Julie Hannon, and Sandra Armenta. She is also survived by her sister, Epifania Manriques; 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren, and many close friends.
Teresa was born in the town of San Lucas, in the state of Michoacan, Mexico. She was married at the age of 15 and had eight children. She was preceded in death by her sons Jose Eduardo and Miguel Angel, and daughter Teresa. She was also preceded by husbands Francisco Villanueva and Eloy Avalos.
Teresa came to the United States in 1955 where she held various jobs while raising her family in East LA and Pico Rivera.
She loved to garden and cook for her family and friends.
