Alberto Medeiros Da Rosa

A resident of Marina for the past 7 years and formerly of Sacramento for 50 years, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family and friends on December 31, 2013 at the age of 72.Son of Jose & Adelina Da Rosa, Alberto was born in Faial, Azores on July 15, 1941. He lost his father at the age of 5 years old and in 1956 immigrated to the United States with his mother and siblings. In 1970 he met the love of his life, Maria, and they were married in October of that year. They had just celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary. In 1973 he became a father to his son Eric. After spending 50 years in Sacramento he moved to Marina to be closer to his son and grandchildren. Although he worked at Libby's for over 23 years his true passion was floral arrangements, eventually starting a floral business that lasted over 30 years.Alberto was predeceased by his parents and his brother Jose Garcia. He is survived by his wife Maria Da Rosa, his son and daughter-in-law Eric and Marlene Da Rosa, his grand- children Jenna and Luke, his brother and wife Mario and Elisabeth Da Rosa, sister and husband Mary and Manuel Avila and many nieces, nephews and friends. Rosary will be held on January 8, 2014 at 10:00 am, followed by Funeral Mass at 11:00 am, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Interment service will follow immediately at St. Mary's Cemetery.
