Anastasios Leonidas Tasakos

June 15, 1928 – March 7, 2016

On March 7, 2016, Anastasios Leonidas Tasakos, loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, peacefully passed away in his Sacramento home, surrounded by his family.

Anastasios was born on June 15, 1928 in Marathia, Greece, the son of Leonidas and Efrosini Tasakos and brother to Vasilios Tasakos and Yiota Sofios.

A Peace Officer in Athens, Greece, he met and married his wife Ekaterini Haniotakis.

Anastasios and his wife Ekaterini left Greece and moved to the United States to Saginaw, Michigan, where they had three children, Vivian, Leonidas and Constantina. There, Anastasios became a professional chef of fine dining in an upscale restaurant.

In 1970, Anastasios was in an automobile accident, which left him disabled. The family moved to Sacramento, California in 1977.

Despite his disability, Anastasios and his wife were proud to have successfully raised and educate their three children.

In 1998, Anastasios lost his wife of 36 years.

Anastasios was known by all his friends as a very charismatic individual who had an amazing sense of humor and a brilliant wit.

Anastasios and his wife were a very loving and generous couple. They enjoyed traveling to their homeland Greece as well as entertain many of their friends and family in their home. Their greatest joy, however, was to see their children get married and to enjoy their grandchildren. They were grateful for all they had.

Anastasios is survived by his daughter Vivian and husband Scott Vail, daughter Constantina and husband Pano Stathos and by his son Leonidas and wife Flora Tasakos. Grandchildren, Austin and Katina Vail and Ekaterini Tasakos.

Trisagion will be held on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. and Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 14, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Both services will take place at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 600 Alhambra Blvd. Sacramento, CA. Interment at East Lawn Memorial Park.
