⚘ Two of the Toliver siblings received their Heavenly wings in 2024 - 💕 Matriarch Aunt Frances "Toliver" Ferguson age 100 yrs (1923 - 2024) and 💕 Uncle Rev. Dr. Bennie L. Toliver, age 90 yrs (1933 - 2024)

Pastor Toliver,
thank you for being there every step of the way.

When I first came to Sacramento I was in a broken marriage that eventually ended in divorce. In an effort to try and save my marriage, my ex-husband and I went to counseling with Pastor Toliver. During our session, I did not have to say much, not because I didn't want to, but Pastor Toliver stood up and spoke up for me. He did not advocate for me to get a divorce but he did not make me feel like I had to remain in an abusive situation either. He supported me like my natural father and my spiritual father. I am forever grateful for his wisdom, sound advice,  instructions and teachings. I extend my sincerest and deepest condolences to Mother Toliver and the entire Toliver Family. May God continue to Bless You during this time of bereavement.

Pastor Toliver was my spiritual father! He impacted my life greatly. It was at 18 years of age that I got to ask basic questions about my spiritual walk and disciplines and he answered them. He was never too busy for me! He welcomed my sister and I into his family. My sister and I were privileged to spend a lot of time with he and mother Toliver outside of the church house. We got to witness Pastor Toliver live what he talked about in public! Pastor Toliver and Mother Toliver poured into me tremendously. I am fruit of their labor before Jesus. I am yet developing and now fully understanding his lessons, rebukes, encouragement, correction and nuggets. I will forever miss Pastor Toliver!!!! I'm thankful God used his life to bless mine!

Pastor Toliver, thank You for being My Pastor. You encouraged me through some difficult moments in my life with Genuine Love and Kindness. I will forever remember how you cared enough to call and check on me and pray with me the day after I had hip replacement surgery: that call will always touch my heart. I was honored to be appointed as a Deaconess and also serve You as a Member of the Communion Servers. I will miss you: I will miss your Teachings/ Preachings. I will miss your Presence and Your Smile. Thank You for being a Father-Figure to Myself and to My Granddaughter Aasiyah: You have been ‘her Pastor Toliver’ since she was 3-months old and she would listen to You preach with True intent both in person and live-streamed. 

My genuine condolences to Mother Toliver and the entire Toliver Family: You’re in my prayers.

My memory of Elder Toliver: it was in June 1988. I was unsaved at the time, but had the worse attitude and Dad Toliver got up to preach , and I can remember saying . If it is meant for me to get saved His message will be just for me. Yes it was for me and he lead me to Christ and though the road was bumpy . I’ve been saved. That hill old  church on Burnette way. I will miss his smile and hugs. Love you Toliver family and praying for you all! One more thing! He would check on me and my Sister on our prayer hour . Late in the Midnite hour!

My deepest sympathy and condolences to the Toliver family 
Pastor Bennie L Toliver made a very big impact on my life, and for that I am truly grateful that the Lord put him in my life for a reason and a season. When I joined progressive, it was because of Pastor Bennie L Toliver. He was so very compassionate, loving and kind. He had a lot of empathy for people 
He delivered eulogies for my two sisters Mildred and Linda. When No one else would do the eulogy, he stepped up without hesitation. It was then that I found love and a connection with Pastor Bennie L Toliver. He is the last of the great teachers. He did more teaching for me than he did preaching and for that I was truly grateful. All Pastor Toliver had to do was open up his mouth and that was a sermon within itself

My dad actually came to California and found me a church home and you became my Pastor. Thank you. I will miss you and always hold you in my heart. Love, Sheya.

To the Toliver Family - Thank you for sharing your father with the James family for 34 years.  It was truly a blessing to have him in our lives.  

Pastor was always willing to get involved in community activities and to support the work.

Dear Mother Toliver and the entire Toliver family, 

You are and will always be in our hearts as our spiritual family that helped raise our kids, Kelley, Paulina, Michael, and Samaria through your love and nurturing, and Pastor Toliver was at the helm of that love. I pray your comfort during this time and beyond. We are here for you and will continue to be so in any capacity. May God continue to keep you in his loving arms.

Pastor Toliver, it was in spring of 1995 when my grandma Mother Burton started to attend Progressive COGIC. She was so blessed to be a part of a well respected church and community of believers. The rest of her family joined in March of 1996 and the teachings, smiles, Pat on the back, your presence during our many bereavement. Thank you so much! You’ll be truly Missed. See you in the morning Sir🙌🏽

One of my greatest memories and as a son-in-law I have a lot, was seeing you cry after I proposed to your oldest daughter Geovanna, (after you convinced me to get a yes from her before I got a yes from you), well for the record, you had to rush to the restroom right quick, but we all knew why.

Thank you for all the time you spent, the lessons you taught, the questions you answered...  your legacy wont die. One of the greatest honors of my life began in a parking lot at a Baptist when you asked me to be an armor bearer. It was impossible to be around you and not learn something. Whatever wisdom I have, came from God and you. Thank you for embracing my naivety, redirecting the way I thought about preaching and challenging the way I navigate the church and ministry. Wherever I go, those life lessons will go with me.

I will miss hearing your sermons and seeing your wonderful smile but I know you are smiling down on us in heaven. I will see you again. I love you Grandpa.

My deepest condolences to the family, I would have loved to pay my respects but my brother has terminal cancer and. Traveling during this time. I will always remember the Toliver Fsmily from the 80’s and early 90’s. Superintendent Toliver preached many powerful messages and walked out what he taught. May our gracious Father and Holy Spirit comfort the family and congregation in this time of grief.
