

Carol Ann Chelini, a beloved wife and mother, passed away peacefully in Carmichael on December 7, 2024, at the age of 86. Carol was a devoted wife and a loving mother, whose kindness, deep Catholic faith, and unwavering dedication to her family was evident in every aspect of her life. Born in 1938 in Sacramento, CA to Frank and Doris Proske, Carol, along with her sister Arlene, attended Immaculate Conception grammar school and then went on to graduate from St. Francis high school.
Shortly after starting junior college, Carol met Richard Chelini while on a ski trip sponsored by the Newman Center. After dating for three years, Richard and Carol were married on June 24, 1961at Immaculate Conception church in Sacramento where Carol’s sister, Arlene Kassis, was the Maid-of Honor; Carol and Rich were married for 63 years. The next three years brought them three sons, Loren, Stephen, and Gregory, to whom they devoted their young lives in raising.
As a full-time mother, Carol volunteered her time for just about every event associated with her children’s young lives, whether it was being a chaperone for a school field trip or chauffeuring her sons and others to and from the countless sports practices and games. She gave endlessly of her time and love in support of providing a firm foundation for her family.
After her kids were out of high school, Carol enjoyed working at the library where she made new friends each day and also developed her passion for photography where she won recognition for several of her photographs over the years. Embracing their love for travel Carol and Rich explored the United States for many years, traveling extensively they explored new places and cultures and developed new friendships wherever they visited.
Family and friends were most important in Carol’s life, which was seen in her kindness and warm smile that touched the lives of everyone she met. Carol’s Catholic faith was her foundation and guided how she lived her life, which served to comfort her upon the loss of her son, brother-in-law, and two nieces in a tragic accident in December 2021.
Carol is survived by her sons, Loren and Gregory, her sister, Arlene Kassis, her grandchildren, and countless family, friends, and loved ones. Her legacy is one of love, devotion, and support of others. She will be deeply missed by all of us who had the privilege of knowing her.
Vigil and Rosary will be held at Nicoletti, Culjis & Herberger Funeral Home (5401 Folsom Blvd, Sacramento, CA) on Monday January 20, 2024, 6:00 pm
Catholic Mass and funeral will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church (1333 58th Street, Sacramento, CA) on Tuesday January 21, 2024, at 10:30 am.
Committal Service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery (6509 Fruitridge Road, Sacramento, CA) on Tuesday January 21, 2024, at 12:00 pm.
