Catherine McKenna. Born April 14, 1930 in Duluth, MN. Died November 9, 2015 in Sacramento. She was a resident of Sacramento for 61 years, having left Minnesota two days after her marriage to the love of her life, Patrick, who preceded her in death in 1993.
She graduated from the College of St. Scholastica School of Nursing in Duluth. After staying home for 14 years to raise her children, she returned to nursing, working 27 years at Mercy General Hospital. After retiring from nursing she continued as a volunteer at Mercy for 20 years. She became a Mercy Associate in 1999 remaining active until her death.
She is survived by her seven children; Kevin, Annie, Patrick, Colleen, David, Mollie, and Brigid. Also survived by 16 grandchildren; Shannon, Sean, Erin, Clare, Courtney, Nikki, Brian, Meghan, Connor, Taylor, Lauryn, Kyle, Caitlin, Grace, Tara, and Brandon and nine great grandchildren; Kaelin, Leah, Kate, Gianni, Ainsley, Kaden, Audri, Scarlet, and Davey. Her life will be celebrated at All Hallows Catholic Church on Friday, November 20 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Maryhouse or Loaves and Fishes.
