

Passed away at 93 years of age on December 19, 2015 in Sacramento, CA.
Catherine was born May 3,1922 in Madison Kansas, the tenth child of Leigh Bates and Nellie Elmira Dewey Callen.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Alan G. Scott, and her sons John G. Scott and Ronald A. Scott and her Daughter-in-Law Kathleen Scott, five brothers; Franklin, Clifford, Wilbur, Chester and Milton, and four sisters, Mabel Annagrace Birket, Mary Louise Johnson, Ella Marjorie Jordan and Elsie Maud Callen,
She is survived by her daughter Sharon Scott, her Grandchildren, Laurel Scott, Erica Settlemyer, Evergreen Walker, Zephyr Scott, and seven Great Grandchildren.
She grew from a Kansas born farm girl into a generous, kind, and engaged woman. She enjoyed her life in the good company of many beloved friends, all involved in good works. Her positive demeanor, bright blue eyes, and smiling face will be remembered with love.
Catherine was educated as Registered Nurse and worked 30 years at McClellan Air Force Base Hospital. She extended her career after retirement by volunteering for many years at the Shriner’s Hospital for Children in Sacramento CA.
She was the past Queen of Menzehala Temple #16 Daughters of the Nile. She was a 50 year member and past Matron of El Camino Chapter #428 Order of the Eastern Star, a Deputy Grand Matron and Service Award recipient. She held her happy memories of the great times and travels in the merry company of her family and her sisters in the Masonic orders for all her long life.
She also served as the 100th president of the Tuesday Club of Sacramento and was a past President of the Allied Arts Club of Sacramento.
It can truly be said that her greatest joys were the company of her friends and her family.
A private memorial will be held by her family and a grave side service will be offered by The Eastern Star at her internment in Weed, CA in the spring. Date to be determined.
