

Charles T. Cheever (“Tom”) was born April 27, 1921 in Sheldon, IL. to Thomas and Annis Cheever. He was the first of his family to attend college and graduated from Illinois, Normal Teachers College in 1941. In the spring of 1942, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. Prior to shipping out for the South Pacific in October 1942, Tom married the love of his life, Margaret. He served 3 years as a navigator on a B-24 crew, flying multiple missions. Following the war he remained in the Air Force for 28 years. He served as a navigator on B-29's and B-52's and an Air Force intelligence officer in Strategic Air Command before retiring in 1969. Tom and Margaret settled in Sacramento to be near their daughters. In 1972, they turned their love for camping and traveling into Florin Center RV, a RV sales and service location in South Sacramento which they operated until 1990. They spent their latter years traveling extensively throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Tom was a 45 year parishioner of St. Anne's Church and a proud member of the VFW.
Tom passed peacefully August 6, 2015, in Sacramento, CA. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 71 years, Margaret, his parents, brother Sydney, and son Greg. Tom is survived by daughters Marcia (John deceased) and Marlene (Larry), son Tom (Deborah deceased), as well as 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be truly missed by those who loved him.
A Rosary will be offered Saturday, August 15, 2015, at 10:00AM with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00AM. Services will be held at St. Anne's Church, 7724 24th St., Sacramento, CA 95832. A private interment will be held Monday Aug. 17, 2015 at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, Dixon Ca. Funeral arrangements are by Harry Nauman & Son, 4041 Freeport Blvd. Sacramento, CA 95822. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Anne's Church 7724 24th St., Sacramento, CA 95832
