

Arnie is survived by his wife of 41 years, Rosemary Trotter; former wife Joni Trotter, sons Craig Trotter, Dana Trotter and Jason Trotter and his wife Leanna; stepson John Squatritto; grandchildren Tamra, Evan, Mason, Lillie and Elijah; and great-grandchildren Harper, Grayson and Brielle. He is preceded in death by his parents William and Mabel Trotter of The Dalles, Oregon; his siblings Marvin Reynolds, Merlyn Reynolds, Raymond Trotter, Dorothy Streeter and Pearl Trotter, many nieces and nephews; and former wife Betty Taylor.
Arnie was born on October 14, 1933, in Grand Island, Nebraska to William and Mabel Trotter. He graduated from The Dalles High School in Oregon in 1950. He moved to Sacramento, California, in 1955, where he began his 44-year State of California career at the State Reclamation Board. From there, he spent 15 years at Caltrans, and then two years at the Department of Water Resources. He left State service for one year to work for Lincoln Contractors in San Mateo, California, before rejoining the State with the Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) in 1979. He retired in 2000 and continued to work for OTS as a retired annuitant until 2003.
Arnie loved golf and gardening, walking along the California coast, and rooting for his favorite sports teams: the Sacramento Kings and the San Francisco 49ers. Arnie valued the love of his wife and children, and cherished the friendships that he made throughout his career.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, January 10 at 11am at Nicoletti, Culjis & Herberger Funeral Home, 5401 Folsom Blvd in Sacramento, with a reception to follow.
