Rex Barney was called to be with his Lord and Savior on December 27 2021, with minimal drama and quiet serenity at age 86. His final year he suffered with grace and patience numerous medical issues, lovingly cared for by his wife Sandra, his son Chris and his Sacramento family, and he had recently communicated that he was ready to exchange his earthly body for the heavenly one. GOD is merciful and kind.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA, the only child of Edward and Grace Barney, he graduated from Avalon High School and was drafted into the US Army and stationed in Germany where he served in the tank division and played basketball. After serving a total of 6 years in the Army and reserves, he attended Thiel College in Pennsylvania for a year before being hired by Elwin G. Smith Construction Products where he worked through their many transitions to retire at age 74 from Centria.
Rex is survived by his wife Sandy, sons Chris (and Kim) and Rex (and Jenny), and daughter Laurel, and grandchildren Wayne (and Kristen), Jessica (and Abe), Brandon (and Janna), Emily, Miles, Maddy, Cami, Chloe, and Bridget, as well as 6 great grandchildren. “Well done, My good and faithful servant.” GOD will get us through this.
“A threefold cord is not easily broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:12
