Our beloved Herb passed away July 28, 2012 due to complications from a stroke suffered in March. Born 5-19-20 in Wishek, N.D. to Karl and Emma Wiest, he enjoyed a Midwest farm life until the Great Depression changed everything. From those trying times, Herb learned early the value of frugality and dedication to friends and family. Drafted into the Army during WW II, Dad served honorably in India and China. Following his service, he attended and graduated from the Univ. of No. Dakota, moved to California and found his true passion as a teacher at Sacramento High School from 1953-1980. Never one to be idle, Herb worked summer breaks and in 'retirement' as a General Contractor, building and remodeling numerous homes.
Left to deeply miss Herb are his wife of 63 years Orlina, daughter Paula, sons Jon and Mark, grandsons Richard and Bret. Survived by sister Wilma O'Bannon, predeceased by sisters Edna Dollinger and Erna Brandt and grandson Stephen David Mackey.
