

Born in Dodge City, Kansas on February 2, 1939, Joe passed away in Sacramento, California on January 4, 2015. After 33 years of faithful service, Joe retired from the Navy. He will be remembered for his amazing sense of humor, always having a funny story to tell or share. Love for his family was evident in the way he lived his life and making memories (teaching life lessons) with his great grandson AJ was of high importance to him. Hailing from Kansas, Joe was a HUGE Kansas City sports fan (Kansas City Chiefs and KC JayHawks). Often times Joe could be found at RedHawk Casino, local flea markets, always looking for a good deal or by the water as he was an avid fisherman.
Joe is preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years, Irma Garcia; son Isaac Tapia and parents Jesus and Lupe Garcia. He is survived by his son Aaron Garcia; grandson Adrian Tapia; granddaughter Victoria Tapia; great grandson AJ Tapia and many extended family and friends.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, January 10 from 4-7pm followed by a Rosary at 7pm at Nicoletti, Culjis & Herberger Funeral Home, 5401 Folsom Blvd. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, January 12 at 11am at St. Paul Catholic Church, 8720 Florin Rd. Interment at Camellia Memorial Lawn.
