Born on January 12, 1933, in Olustee, Oklahoma, to Garland Stone and Velma May Williams. She recalled they were on the move constantly as her “daddy” was looking for work during the Depression. She would recall hitchhiking with her parents across OK, CO, and TX. Most of her life was spent in Lubbock, Texas, where she lived some of the time with her stepsister Dorothy and brother-in-law Joe Booth and their two children Jack (deceased) and Jo Marie Baker. She was a faithful wife to her late husband John Facino Sr., and a devoted mother to her 7 children: Delores Ayers, Jeanene Von Hoffmann, John Facino Jr., Gerald Facino, Teresa Porter, Tina Thomas, and Angelia Zauch. She loved and is survived by 20 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren (one deceased – our Lilly), and one great-great-grandson. She had many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins.
Lea lived a fulfilling life and was a woman of many talents. She not only raised 7 children, but she worked most of our lives to help make ends meet and at times was the sole breadwinner. She worked various jobs, but when she became a dispensing optician, this became her life passion. She worked in many local doctor's offices and department stores. She even tried her hand as a small business owner with Lea’s Optical in Vacaville. On her off hours, she loved to cook, decorate her home (an amazing wallpaper hanger), and was always ready to watch her beloved Dallas Cowboys. She cheered everything Texas and was excited for the Super Bowl this year because Mahomes is a Texan and went to Texas Tech!
Lea was a kind and generous soul, always putting others’ needs before her own. Her love and compassion extended to all those who knew her, and she will be remembered for her loving warm personality. And on the flip side, she will be remembered for her feistiness and if you ever crossed her, she’d let you know it.
She requested that no services be held but agreed to let us have a party. Arrangements will be made in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to UC Davis Health or the charity of your choice. The family would like to thank her care providers at UCD Health; Dr. Jason Chang, Dr. Garrett Wong, and Dr. Michelle Lim who cared for her for many years.
Rest in peace, Mom, and know you will forever live on in our hearts!
