Robert William Trafton…loving and faithful husband; loving and proud father; loving and devoted son-in-law; loyal big brother; fun-loving cousin; trusted brother-in-law; sweet uncle; kind friend; gracious host; veteran; athlete; theater-fan; cat-lover; squirrel-foe; bird-watcher; garden-gazer; carpenter; golfer; snack-hound; “a real gem;” “such a treasure;” “one of God’s true gentlemen”…passed away peacefully on Monday evening, September 23rd, at the too young age of 81, surrounded by the people he loved most. Born in Iowa, raised in Oregon, served abroad in the air-force, settled in Sacramento, worked at Pac Bell for thirty-two years, married the love of his life for 51 years, fathered a son whom he adored, Bob will be remembered for his sweet smile, courage, good humor, wry wink, and the kindness he showed all whom he met: he will be sorely, sorely missed. All services will take place Monday, September 30th, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (1333 58th Street, Sacramento) beginning with a closed-casket visitation at 9:30pm, Mass of Resurrection at 10:00am, immediately followed by a reception for all in Bob’s honor in the parish hall. Interment will be done privately with the family. In lieu of flowers, Bob’s family suggests gifts in his memory to be directed to Jesuit High School (1200 Jacob Lane, Carmichael, CA 95608) in support of its financial assistance program. Bob often said his life was “saved” by coaches and teachers; please help him pay it forward…
