Born to Paul and Isola in Memphis, Texas on October 5, 1925. Passed away in Sacramento, California on September 21, 2011. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Marie Gloria in 1983. Beloved father to Debra Matessino (James) and Sheila Formica. Cherished grandfather, to Denise, Christina, Lindsey, Hilary, Sara and Elizabeth, as well as a great-grandfather and a great-great grandfather. Brother to Sue Dean and Leroy Gillean. Uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. Van worked for the City of Sacramento as a supervisor for the water treatment facility for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Western Swing Society and a Master Mason with 50+ years to Sacramento Lodge # 40. He will be missed.
