

Neil Ronald Winter - a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and beloved friend. Neil was born on March 19, 1952, in Newark, New Jersey, to the late Herman and Sally Winter. Neil completed his earthly journey on December 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Neil lived a life defined by his endless kindness and unwavering love for all people. He was a deeply spiritual man who walked closely with God, living the values of his faith, praying and meditating daily. Known for his generosity and incredible compassion, all those who knew Neil have said he was the kindest person they had ever met.
Neil married the luckiest woman in the whole wide world, his soulmate, Leea Winter, and together they shared 20 years of partnership, including 18 years of marriage filled with love, adventure, and devotion. They were married in Hawaii, a place that held special meaning for them and one they returned to often, creating many treasured memories together.
A dedicated professional who loved his job, his clients, and all his partners, Neil worked as an accountant for over 40 years. He served as a partner in multiple accounting firms while living in Denver, Colorado, and Tampa, Florida before retiring to North Carolina after a distinguished and respected career.
Neil embraced life with enthusiasm, joy, and passion. He was a lifelong sports enthusiast who loved all sports, especially hockey, football, golf, and tennis; he was a devoted fan of the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Avalanche. During his life, Neil was a cyclist, golfer, skier, swimmer, paddleboarder, and fledgling triathlete who found joy in movement and the outdoors.
The water was Neil’s happy place. He loved the Gulf Mexico and captained many boats during his years on the water. He also loved going on cruises. Travel brought him great joy, and wherever he went, Neil carried his warmth and his incredible smile, as well as his genuine curiosity and interest in others with him. From ‘big wigs’ to hotel staff, and the homeless, everyone Neil met was at the center of his attention and kindness, regardless of their social status. Neil loved life, and most of all, he loved people! His presence brought comfort, laughter, and peace, and his legacy of kindness and faith will live on in all who were blessed to have known him.
Neil is survived by his best friend and wife of 18 years, Leea Winter; his son, Jason; his daughters, Lindsey, Elaine, and Nicole; and his cherished grandchildren, Brynlee, Hadley, Lauren, and Lindsay.
Neil will be deeply missed, and will forever be remembered for his gentle spirit, endless kindness, joyous smile, generous heart, and his abiding love for God, his family, and the precious gift of life.
