Normand DesJardins left us on January 28, 2025, leaving a gap in our hearts that can never be filled. He was known for his supportive nature, sense of humor, and his ability to light up any room. Born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, he graduated from Saint Mary’s Catholic High School, Massachusetts. He served in the United States Navy for 20 years, retiring as a Personnel Administrator earning several medals and honors for his service. During his service, he served aboard the U.S.S. Saratoga, was stationed in Australia, and travelled the world to places one could only hope to visit in one lifetime. He attained his Baccalaureate Degree from the University of Tampa and worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa, Florida, where he retired from as well.
His astonishing work ethic and continuous ability to help anyone in need was only surpassed by his love for his family.
Normand is survived by his loving wife Nancy DesJardins, whom he married on May 6, 1966, his two sons, Adrian and Jeff DesJardins, and his seven grandchildren, Anjelika Weiss, Trevor, Jacob, Marshall, Elaina, Marley, and Kane DesJardins. He also leaves behind his brothers Robert, Roland, Andy, and Ronald DesJardins. He was preceded in death by his sisters Constance DesJardins and Muriel Clemons, and his parents Lucienne and Gerard DesJardins.
Normand was pillar of strength for his family, a loving husband, a supportive father, and a faithful brother and son. He could be stubborn at times, but his family knew that it was only a testament to his dedication and love for them. He will be remembered as a source of love, support, and a pleasure to all that were lucky enough to know him.
Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Hardage-Giddens Funeral home, 1285 St Johns Parkway N, Saint Johns, Florida 32259. He will be laid to rest with military honors.
