I'm so glad to have known Dennis . I will always remember the tender kiss he placed on my lips . His expression of his feelings for me . Not romance but maybe newness finally two people who know each other through My brother and his Mother finally meeting face to face . Just Tender is what I thing of with Dennis . Such a tender and loving person. Someone commented Dennis was the perfect person. I feel the same about him. Now when I look at his picture I'll try not to cry but remind myself that's the person I want to be. Love and Prayers for all that love him especially for Sumi from one mother to another.

Larry, I was greatly saddened to learn of Dennis' passing.  The pain of losing a son must be real and profound; I hope and pray that you find comfort and solace, in particular from the many expressions of sympathy left here by people who  knew and remember your son.  It's obvious that Dennis was a true force of nature, a presence that could not be ignored, a person who lit up any room he entered, a mentor to those who worked for and with him, and a man of care and compassion to his friends. His life ended too soon for sure, but for sure his was a life well-lived.  Eternal rest grant unto him Oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.

I started work at US Bank in 2008 Dennis was my 1st Supervisor and a Wonderful Boss. Very easy to talk to about anything. Dennis would walk soo fast. Reading a bunch of the memories from Dennis' friends, family and colleagues, their words echoes much of what I remember of him from my childhood.  While I regret that life got in the way of keeping in touch with one another, I do remember looking up to my cousins Dennis and Jimmy. One of my favorite memories was playing with them chasing each other around their place with toy noise maker rifles, throwing paper planes with fire crackers taped to them off of their balcony scaring the birds and learning to play games with marbles.  I still remember breaking and losing so many marbles (sorry Dennis).  Thank you for being someone I could look up to during my childhood and obviously someone so many others could look up to through adulthood.  You will be missed Dennis.

Dennis was my first friend in college.Our pledge classes partnered freshman year to do a lip sync contest.From that moment on we were best buddies which carried us through for 20 years. Dennis was funny (always “clowning”), caring, sensitive,supportive,a great listener, a good teacher,a chef (his best meals consisted of using random old food from the fridge that he seriously turned into good food),a Dj, and to top it off an awesome dancer.He was fast on his feet and slipped through crowds with ease(like a gazelle as he would say)He loved to over moisturize his skin and constantly apply his chapstick  that he never liked to share(it became a joke).He befriended everyone from the man who helped him park his car to the guy who gave him a paper towel in the restroom.Everyone knew Dennis. He had sayings like,“Not tonight guy!”and “Everything’s going to be aaalllllrrrriiiiiiiiight.” Words can't capture his energy and charisma. 
One memory I love was in college.I was a procrastinator and had a semester's worth of journal entries due.I sat at my word processor the night before crying and Dennis knew what kind of a pickle I was in.I eventually just passed out. Something woke me at 4 am and there was Dennis typing away. He had finished my entries(he never did require much sleep..only spurts).He saved me that night and continued for years.
In a period of turmoil in my life Dennis single-handedly pulled me through.He was why I overcame tremendous panic and anxiety. I wouldn’t be where I am today without him.  
He texted me in January. We spoke on his birthday in February and I had asked him to come visit.I was hoping to reconnect with my dear friend since we had sadly lost touch.
A piece of me will always be missing.His spirit now is teaching me to never give up on anyone I love and to always have fun. Dennis always had fun.I will always picture him in his car(Altima) windows rolled down a smile on his face listening to music as loud as possible. I will miss you so very much

This month 11 years ago Dennis had just become my first supervisor when I took a full time position at US Bank. I remember my part time supervisor at the time Don telling me, “Nicola, Dennis is a great guy and a good supervisor you will really love working for him.”I was a little skeptical on what Don stated because I didn’t know many people in the company at the time but Don’s description of Dennis turned out to be correct. Dennis was such a cool, sweet, & genuine guy. He brought humor to my day every time I saw him flying down the halls in the office, he was such a fast walker lol. Dennis you will truly be missed.

I can not express how sad I am to hear this news and for his family. I started working with Dennis 16yrs ago. He was one of the nicest guys I have ever met and I am so glad I was able to know him. I will miss him and hearing "Hey DH, what's going on".  

I am deeply saddened to hear of Dennis’ passing.  I have many fond memories of growing up with Dennis in LaVista.  He encouraged me to take tennis lessons with him and Jimmy.  We also shared many great experiences in our many years of playing soccer together.  Dennis could always be counted on to challenge you and provide positive comments to help you succeed.  I wish we would not have lost touch, but am glad that I had the opportunity to be friends with him.  He will always be remembered for the positive impact he had on my life.  I will keep his family in my prayers.

I am truly saddened to hear of Dennis' passing. I have endless fond memories of childhood years spent playing soccer and NES, listening to music, going to waterslides and navigating the minefields of primary, middle, and high schools with Dennis and James. Dennis was a good friend and a great person. I'm sorry for his family and friends to lose him so young. Dennis leaves an indelible mark on so many, and all our lives are richer for these shared experiences. I'll always be grateful for those memories. I wish you, his closest friends and family, peace and my condolences.

I didn't get to know Dennis as well as I would have liked, but right away Dennis made me feel like family.  He was fun, outgoing, and engaging right from the start. I appreciated his gift for conversation and his ability to nurture our relationship by remembering almost every detail we discussed and following up with me the next time we'd talk. Being kind, fair, and of sound judgement  he was the kind of personality you'd want around in difficult situations and for his help in this way, I am grateful.  I can say, with certainty, that knowing Dennis was blessing and I am better for it.

My deepest sympathy to Dennis's family and loved ones during this difficult time. For the past 7 years, I have had the pleasure of working with Dennis at U.S. Bank.  From the beginning, I realized what a positive up-lifting person Dennis was. Dennis had a way of making everyone feel at ease in any situation. His demeanor, sense of humor, and sincerity was apparent at all times. I will miss Dennis and hope that he knew how much he meant to so many people. Rest in peace. 

I first met Dennis during fraternity rush in 1993.  He came to the house and we could immediately tell that he was engaging and quietly confident.  I had the privilege of being his “big brother” which meant I should help and teach him some things.  During the time we would hang out in college and post college I learned far more from D, than he from me.  Some of the things I didn’t put much thought  back into during the late 90’s that remain with me today, are not wearing shorts out at night, paying the extra $1 for white meat chicken or bison, and  “strength training not just running”….. he was right!  He was someone you could learn from by just observing how he carried himself,  how he treated others, and always gave a high effort in everything he did.We lived together for a year right after he graduated college and had so many  laughs, great times and insightful conversations.  As I reflect back on that time, it also strikes me how serious Dennis took his first job out of school and how he strove to be excellent. While I regret that I had lost touch with D, none of the comments from his professional colleagues and friends surprise me. I am deeply sorry to Jimmy, his mother, father and family.  He touched so many of us and I know made me better.

As another colleague of Dennis’s at U.S. Bank, I too share in the shock and sadness at the news of his sudden passing.  Dennis was, as others has expressed, a true genuine sole. What you saw was what you get, no hidden agendas, honest, always upbeat and friendly, willing to lend a hand whenever and wherever he could.  Dennis could always be counted on, there was never a need to follow up with Dennis, he was always two steps ahead of you.  He was a master of his role and responsibilities at the bank, rarely would I ever come away from a business conversation where Dennis didn’t know the answers.  As a colleague, one couldn’t ask for more.  I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Dennis just shy of 10 years and our offices were located across the hall from each other with Dennis’ in the corner next to the conference room.  Rarely was there a day that I would walk past his office without being greeted with a friendly hello how you doing.  Dennis and I regularly shared conversations around our passions which included tennis and travel, always discussing the next destination, cruise, or adventure either of us was taking or hoped to take.  Every conversation ended with a big smile on Dennis face.  While I’m disappointed I didn’t get to know him on a more personal level, I’m glad to have shared our similar interests the conversations we did.  Lastly, I’m not only proud to have called him my colleague but also my friend.  Rest in peace Dennis.  My thoughts and prayers go out to all his family and friends during this sad and difficult time.     

My deepest condolences to Jimmy and family. This has left a huge hole in my heart. I had the honor and privilege of being friends with Dennis since college. We lived together during college and later in St. Louis. In 2006 I moved to Chicago and good old D bent over backwards to come visit me 2-3 times per year for several years. We took many trips together as well to Vegas, Tampa, Miami, Minneapolis and of course KC. Dennis was the best of the best. I don’t think you could design a better human being. He was intelligent, an excellent athlete, generous, empathetic  and HILARIOUS! Oh, and the most loyal of friends. He would give you the shirt off his back no questions asked. As the Jesuits  would say - - he was a true “man for others.”  It warms my heart to read all the stories from his co-workers. Those words all ring so true and reflect how genuine he was in all aspects of his life.  He is someone I will tell my daughter about when she gets older. I will tell her that Dennis Osalkowski was someone we should all strive to be. May you Rest In Peace my brother. We will meet again

We spent a number of Thanksgivings with Dennis.  He was just a wonderful guy and felt like family.  He will be sorely missed.  Miss him so much.  

I am saddened Dennis has passed away this young.  My condolences to the family.  I had the honor of being roommates with him for 4 years during & post college.  I regret not seeing D since 2012, where we met up to hit the tennis ball around a few times; and I was so impressed with how great a player he was and committed he was to the sport and doing well.  His rating at the time was 4.5 which is damn good, but no surprise as D was all about excellence at everything he did.  It has been very touching to read the comments of his co-workers at the Bank, you guys have nailed D; that is the D I knew… I am so proud that he touched all of you at the bank, as he has left the same lasting impression on me.  Kind, witty, bright, articulate, a jack of all trades.  If you have ever read the book Emotional Intelligence 2.0, undoubtedly D must have had the highest scores ever.  Dennis, I will see you on the other side, bro.  I know the line will be long to hang with you.

My heart just breaks for your family I'm so glad I got to meet you the most kindest sweetest man I remember you coming to my house to help load up flowers from daddy's funeral and you pick up a vase from my table we laughed and laughed because it was my center piece I was looking forward for your visit this summer and I always talked to you when wendy would call me I would always say hi Dennis it's your favorite aunt you will be so deeply missed  love your favorite auntie 

I worked with Dennis for many years. He was professional, dependable, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to work with. He was one of the friendliest people at my site and always had a smile to share. He will definitely be missed. 

Dennis and I worked together for many years at U.S.Bank.  His office was just a few feet from mine and we talked everyday about business and sports.  He was one of the nicest individuals I have ever met.  There are no words to describe how much I will miss him.

My memories of Dennis go back to his childhood. I still remember with fondness playing basketball with Dennis, his brother Jim and his Dad Larry in the family driveway.  Talk about brutal! As many people know, Dennis had a great sense of humor and for sure there were many laughs back then in our evening pick up games on their LaVista driveway. I often speak with his Dad but didn’t get to know Dennis the adult except for what his proud Dad told me on our calls.  My heart breaks  for his family and all those who knew and loved him. May he live on through all our memories. 

I have only come to know Dennis over the last couple of years as we collaborated on a work project. During that time, Dennis revealed he was a Buffalo Bills fan and he described the painful years and expressed his optimism for the recent success. When his Bills played the Cowboys this last Thanksgiving, Dennis was blowing me up by text and for good reason. I read those text messages again today and smiled. I will always have them. On behalf of the family at Solutions by Text, our thoughts and prayers are with the family.  

My heart breaks as I try to wrap my head around Dennis’s passing. He was one of a kind and it would warm your heart to be in his presence. He was kind, thoughtful, and one of the funniest people I have known. On many occasions, I laughed to the point of crying at his jokes and silly hijinks. You were always guaranteed to have time well spent when in Dennis’s company, whether that be meaningful conversations or shenanigans. I regret so much that we lost touch several years ago. Though I’m devastated by his passing like the rest of us, I’m so thankful for the decade I got with Dennis.  He was a trusted and diligent coworker, but more importantly a trusted and diligent friend.  A friend that always asked about the things he knew were important in my life because he genuinely cared.  The type of friend that made it easy to be friends.  I’m going to miss him.  My deepest condolences to his family.  I know he always looked forward to spending time with you.

Over the last 9 years, I had the great fortune of getting to know Dennis.  We bonded immediately over our love of tennis and football.  In recent years we grew much closer as projects at work kept us connected on a daily basis.  As I got to know Dennis I began to admire the man he was and the values he stood for.  Dennis, you will truly be missed, and my heart breaks for everyone who was blessed with the opportunity of getting to know you.  We are all better people because we had you in our lives.

We pledged the same fraternity together, were roommates, ping pong partners, and drinking buddies.  Dennis would play ping pong for hours in the Sig Ep chapter room because no one could beat him and winner stayed.  Dennis was insanely funny.  He found humor in everything which is why everyone enjoyed being around him.  Shortly after college, Dennis was the best man in my wedding.  During his toast, he referenced being nervous and the advice he received to imagine the crowd naked to which he closed with “Wow, Mrs. Chapman” in reference to my Mom.  Regretfully, Dennis and I drifted apart after college.  We would see each other occasionally for a few years but it had been a long time since we last spoke.  I wish I had made more of an effort to be a part of his life.  I will never forget you, brother.  Rest in peace.

Dennis is one of those faces that always had a smile!  I did not get to know him as closely as most but what I did get the joy of discovering is his insane sense of humor.  My Wednesday meetings with my control partner, Matt, who has an office across from Dennis' was where I got to know Dennis.  He would always have the best way of overhearing our conversations, and adding a twist of humor to whatever we were discussing.  Every time we passed, it was always with a Hello Lis, how are you today?  I was even more impressed with his intelligence and his ability to describe some technologies that I was seeking to understand.  Dennis your spirit will be greatly missed but never forgotten.  Rest in Peace

My heart is with the Osalkowski  family at this devastating time.   It is rare to meet someone as warm, friendly, positive, and engaging as Dennis, and we were all blessed to spend happy times with  him on last year’s trip to Greece.  I looked forward to maintaining a friendship with Dennis for many years to come, and like all who knew him, am sad that it is not to be.  May his family and friends be comforted in his memory and in knowing what a light he was to everyone he met.

I met Dennis on my trip to Greece.  He and his family were so lovely.  We had an amazing group on this trip and Dennis was a big part of that - he was so nice and fun to hang out with.  My deepest condolences to his family.

When I started at the Bank 16 years ago, Dennis (or D-Bone, D or DO as I called him depending on the day) was one of my mentors. We were more than just teammates, we were friends. Dennis was a great listener and gave thoughtful and compassionate feedback while adding value to every interaction.  He was such a positive influence for so many people and it didn't matter if they were his direct reports, his managers, his peers or just random folks in the office.  He was friends with everyone.  We would take minimum 1 mile walks often but usually we walked more than that, often multiple times a day because Dennis always wanted to do more.  On those walks we talked about sports, movies, tv shows, politics, relationships and family.  Mostly family.  Dennis loved his drives to Nashville to see his mom and looked forward to his trips to Buffalo and Tampa.  He spoke of his parents and brother often and always had positivity and love in his voice.  He was a great partner and such a smart, driven guy.  I learned a lot from him. He wanted the best for his team and any team that was part of the Bank.  I already miss his smile and laugh, a laugh that always made me laugh more and just being in his presence.  I offer his family my deepest condolences and hope they find peace knowing D touched so many people and was so well loved and respected by all.  

There isn't much I can say that hasn't already been reflected in the words of others who have shared their memories of Dennis, which is a tremendous testament to his genuine character. I've known and worked with Dennis since 2008 and just as many, have felt the warmth of his personality through his radiant smile and cheery greetings. He was like a bolt of lightening speeding through the office lighting a trail in his path.  That corner office will never feel the same and the world will be dimmer without you, friend. Keep shining on!

I am stunned and deeply saddened to hear that Dennis is no longer with us.  I had the good fortune to work closely with Dennis for a number of years.  We accomplished a lot, and had plenty of laughs along the way.  I knew him to be a positive, friendly, and funny person, who demonstrated in real life situations that he was a man of honesty and integrity.  My condolences to his family, friends, and anyone else who now feels the weight of this painful loss.

I've had the privilege of working with Dennis pretty much throughout my career at the bank.  He was the most genuine person I believe I have ever met in my life.  The world truly became worse-off today.

When  I think of Dennis I remember my childhood in the late 80's spent in South Korea visiting my cool tweenage cousins: Dennis & Jimmy.  My brother and I looked forward to hanging out with our cousins.  My brother Jon would play videogames on the Atari with cousin Jimmy.  What 80's kid doesn't enjoy Pong or Galaga on the Atari?  Me!  Dennis knew that and he was a good cousin to play & do the things I took interest in so that I wouldn't feel left out.  I knew Dennis to be kind, mature, inclusive, thoughtful, patient, and good-hearted.  I regret to have missed out on all the time that has since then passed. 

Dennis is near and dear to my mom's heart, Mom helped look after Dennis the first few years of his life. It's especially upsetting that he passed away so young. Hearing Emo's pain & grief breaks my heart.  She is heartbroken.  My heart goes out to Emo (Dennis's mom), Uncle & cousin Jim.  Dennis left too soon.  He is deeply loved and will be missed.  

I am shocked with this sad news. Dennis was a fraternity brother of mine in college and we played a lot of ping pong -good memories of those days in Kirksville...prayers to his family..

It’s hard to put into words how much Dennis is going to be missed by all of us at the office.  
Something I always admired about Dennis was how kind he was to me and to everyone around him every single day. Every time you passed him in the hallway, Dennis would greet you by name and ask how you were doing.  He was a friend to everyone, and when he greeted you, you just knew that he really cared how you were doing.  We are all going to miss his greetings.

Where do I start...when I got hired at the Bank your were my first supervisor. You have always been kind and cool. You always treated people so nice and you loved to walk fast (lol). I will cherish our memories throughout these last 13 years and I will miss the hallway passes when you always look up, give me that smile and say, Hey Jess...like only you could. Dennis you were a sweetheart and for that I will always love you.  May your dear family and other many friends find comfort in these words at this difficult time.

Dennis was amazing to work with and to throw back a beer or two (although that was in our younger years). His smile and general can-do attitude always made him a pleasure to be around.

I've worked with Dennis the last 6 years. He had the joy of being audited by me when I was brand new to the job, but he handled it with poise and we developed a rapport that resulted in him bouncing a lot of things off me over the years or asking me to help him translate when dealing with other auditors. For the last two years I had the privilege of sitting in the office next door to him. I always enjoyed out chats and how friendly he was, especially towards someone who had to double check his work. I'll miss him and the office is going to be emptier without him.

I am at a loss here. My heart is hurting for Denis's family.  The family is in my thoughts and prayers. About 14 months ago Dennis FINALLY (after years of talk) joined for my annual March Madness trip to Las Vegas. Had some good times and great laughs sitting around for days watching basketball and cruising the strip. Dennis is a good guy I always liked the break at work when he would come in to my office to talk about the college games over the weekend, last night or the games being played tonight.  Dennis you will be missed by many RIP brother, I will miss all the sports talk with you.
