Elvera L. Kimbro Dawson

Elvera L. Dawson, 92, a long time resident of Alton, IL. passed away on Saturday January 15 at 9:47 PM at the Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma City, OK. Elvera was the wife of the late Earl L. Dawson of Alton, IL. They were married 55 years before his death.

She was born on May 16, 1918 in Coffeen, IL. The daughter of the late Ernest and Floy (East) Kimbro.

Elvera was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Alton, IL for over 60 years where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School classes. She was also a Senior Director for Mary Kay Cosmetics for several years.

She is survived by her son William E. Dawson of Oklahoma City, a daughter Janice Dawson Thibault and son-in-law James E. Thibault Jr. of Cranston, RI. Two grandchildren, Allison and Jeremie Thibault of Cranston, RI. and a sister Helen Nixon Shockley of Florisant, MO, Lorene Williams of Ft. Worth, TX and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were sisters Geneva Kenahan of Carlinville, IL, Marietta Casteel of Estes Park, CO, Fran Clevenger of Little Egypt, IL, Mary Bowman and Shirley Weatherford, both of Carlinville, IL, a brother William Kimbro of Phoenix, AZ and a sister-in-law Wanda M. Dawson of Collinsville, IL.

Visitation is at 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 22, 2011 at the Calvary Baptist Church, 1422 Washington Ave. Alton, IL. The funeral services will be held immediate afterward at 11am.
