Thomas U. Smith Jr., age 83, of St. Louis, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2016. He is the beloved wife of Gloria Smith, nee Miller; dear father of Tom Smith III, Suzy (Mike) Madden; grandfather of Tom (Lauren) Smith IV, Christine (Matt) Bonastia and Bobby Madden; great-grandfather of Kallie, Reese, Mia and Anthony Bonastia.. He was preceded in death by a brother Buddy Smith.
Tom operated car dealerships in the St. Louis area for 20 years. He and Gloria moved to Florida where he combined his love of music and business and ran a music store before moving back to St. Louis. Tom was a skilled musician and played in various bands in his youth. He was also and avid golfer and all-around good guy.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 pm, Tuesday, Aug. 9, at Mount Hope Cemetery, 1215 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis, Mo. 63125. Those wishing to attend are asked to gather no later than 2:15 pm in the parking lot of Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Road.
