Arthur Mitchell Shepard passed away peacefully early Thursday morning February 26, 2026. He lived a full and happy 94 years. Born in Lewiston ME, he was the third of three children of Harry and Sara Supovitz. Arthur graduated from Lewiston High School in 1949, then went on to attend Worcester Polytechnic Institute, graduating in 1953 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. After graduation, Arthur served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his service a new job at Hartford Electric Light Company brought him to Hartford CT where he met his bride to be, Beverly Geetter, marrying in October of 1956, and soon thereafter he and Beverly started their family. In 1963 the family moved to Natick MA and he went to work in Operational Quality Assurance for Yankee Atomic Electric Company. Over the years, Arthur spent a great deal of time at his beloved family beach cottage in Old Orchard Beach, ME. He enjoyed traveling the world during retirement with Beverly and he was endlessly amused by his two granddaughters and granddog during the family’s weekly Zoom calls over the last five years. Arthur was an avid reader, loved his gym time and was a talented and highly prolific painter – often found in the art room at Brooksby Village. Arthur is survived by his devoted wife of 69 years, Beverly; his son Stephen Shepard and two granddaughters Stella and Marni of Verona NJ; and daughter Karen Shepard and son-in-law Glenn Kennedy of Marblehead MA. He was predeceased by his parents Harry and Sara Supovitz, his brother Stanley Shepard and sister Barbara Brenner.
