For 59 years, she was the beloved wife of the late Eugene Barden. Together they enjoyed the beaches of Swampscott, traveling, and especially spending time with their family. She also enjoyed playing Mahjong.
Barbara was deeply loved by her family and many friends. After her sons were in school, she held a number of jobs before retiring from Eastern Bank, where she worked in customer service for many years.
She was the daughter of the late Jack and Mary (Friedland) Cohen of Chelsea and Lynn.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Jody and Ellen of Peabody, Marc and Lisa of Swampscott, and Gary and Michele of Swampscott. She is also survived by her six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored.
Barbara was a longtime member of Temple Emanual in Marblehead. A graveside service was held on April 20 in the Temple’s cemetery in Danvers, Massachusetts. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Temple in Barbara’s memory.
