Beatrice was born and raised in Lynn and graduated from Lynn Classical High School.
While she had the responsibility of six children, she worked full time at Lynn and Union Hospitals in various roles in the lab. In her early 50’s, she enrolled at Northeastern University and obtained her Bachelor’s Degree after taking her required courses at night. She then went on to obtain her Master's Degree from Lesley University in her late 50’s. In July of 1999 she celebrated her 70th birthday chanting the haftorah at her Bat Mitzvah.
She lived her adult life on the North Shore enjoying the communities of Marblehead, Swampscott, and Salem. She was active in the community and synagogue - Temple Beth El which later became part of Congregation Shirat Hayam. She was past president of her temple's sisterhood, involved in Hadassah, volunteered for Hospice and crusaded for any cause she believed in. She was honored as a Hero by the community and always gave back to her community.
Bea loved traveling with her husband and friends. She enjoyed the theatre, bridge, canasta, and mahjong, but mostly cooking for her family and friends. She loved having her family over for Sunday dinners and hosting the holidays. Anyone who was alone was welcome to join her at the dinner table. Hanukkah parties are something her family will always remember fondly.
Beatrice was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Sidney Strome, her parents Arthur and Martha Finkle, her sister Arlene Burtman, and her son Scott Strome. Her greatest joys were her children, Alan and his wife Liz, Diane and her husband Paul, Marsha, Sandra, and Stephen and his wife Holly.
