Bloom, Helen Zenis, of Lynn, died in her sleep on March 6. She was 99 years-old. She was the widow of Louis Bloom who died in 1986, and youngest child of Israel and Sara (Galis) Zenis, who had immigrated from Russia in 1895. Born in Lynn in 1911, where she lived for 89 years, she was a highly respected bookkeeper for over 50 years. Helen loved her city, was fiercely proud of it, and was active in Jewish community affairs. In her 90s she moved to Bertram House in Swampscott, where she was extremely popular in that assisted living community. Among her many activities she delighted in her flower arranging program and regularly beat all comers at Scrabble.
She is survived by eight nieces and nephews, twenty grand-nieces and nephews, and twenty-nine great-grandnieces and nephews. She loved and was beloved by all.
A Funeral Service will be held at Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel, 10 Vinnin Street, Salem on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Interment at Pride of Lynn Cemetery, Lynn. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to your favorite charity.
