

Jonathan Adam Power, age 35 of Peabody passed away unexpectedly early Sunday morning. Jonathan was the most beloved son of Judi and Herb Harris of Peabody and Bill and Lucy Power of Topsfield. He was the cherished brother of Nicole Marie Power of Topsfield, loved step-brother of Jill (Harris) and Michael Saccoccia and daughter Olivia of Rhode Island, dear grandson of Ruth Stepner and the late Irving (Honey) Stepner of Swampscott. Jon had a wide circle of friends whom he treasured, especially his high school and college friends as well as those faithful and loving friends of Bill W. who played such a significant role in his daily life. His proud aunts, uncles and cousins will mourn his passing as well. He also leaves behind his loved canine friend, Brady. Jon was a 1997 graduate of Peabody High School, where he served as sophomore class president as well as a member of the student council and varsity tennis team. He went on to obtain his undergraduate degree, summa cum laude in Management of Information and Technology Systems in 2001 at Syracuse University. In September of this year, Jon proudly received his Master’s in Business Administration with highest honors from Endicott College. He achieved a successful career in the semi-conductor industry, first at Varian Ion Implant Systems in Gloucester, MA and most recently at Axcelis Technologies in Danvers. Jon was passionate about all sports especially Tom Brady, the Patriots, the Red Sox and Syracuse basketball. They have all lost one of their biggest fans. Jonathan suffered from Stargardt’s Disease, a progressive, degenerative retinal malady which greatly affected his sight and inspired him to create a blog to exchange news of the latest treatments for this debilitative disease and the ongoing search for a cure. Jonathan was truly loved and respected by all who knew him and will certainly be greatly missed by all. Services will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2014, 11:00am at Stanetsky- Hymanson Memorial Chapel, 10 Vinnin Street, Vinnin Sq. Salem, MA. Visitation will start at 10:00 am. Interment will follow after the service in Lynn. Memorial gathering to follow cemetery at the home of Judi and Herb Harris in Peabody.
