

PEABODY– Nordia Leah (Prietz) Kay, 85 years, of Peabody, formerly of Marblehead, entered into rest Tuesday morning, January 21, 2014 at the Braeburn Gardens at Brooksby Village in Peabody. Beloved wife of Emanuel Kay. Born in New York, NY, she was the daughter of the late Carl & Betty (Chekmer) Prietz. She attended the High School of Music & Art and graduated from Queens College, where she majored in Art Studies. Nordia received a Master’s Degree in Art Education from Columbia University.
Mrs. Kay had been employed as an occupational aide at Marlborough State Hospital in NJ and an art supervisor for the Bridgeville, PA school system. Nordia had also taught watercolor classes at the North Shore Jewish Community Center for forty years.
In addition to her husband, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage, she is survived by two devoted children, Carl Kay & his wife Yoko of Cambridge & Japan and Laurie Mallas & her husband Thomas of Swampscott; her sister, Adina Linden & her husband Allen of Durham, NH; four cherished grandchildren, Marissa and William Mallas and Wataru and Eriko Kay and many nieces & nephews.
Funeral services at Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel, SALEM on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 10 AM. Interment will be held privately. Relatives & friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday evening from 4:30 PM-8 PM in the Catering Room at the MacIntosh Clubhouse, 200 Brooksby Village Drive, Peabody .
