Rachel Tami Davis of Salem, Massachusetts entered into eternal rest on January 20, 2026, at the age of 39. She was the beloved daughter of Debra and Philip Davis of Swampscott, MA, and the cherished sister of Stephanie J. Davis.
Rachel was raised in Swampscott, where she graduated from Swampscott High School as a member of the National Honor Society. Guided by a deep commitment to helping others, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from Salem State University and went on to complete her Master’s Degree in Social Work at Simmons University, pursuing the field that would become her calling.
Rachel dedicated her life to advocating for those whose voices often go unheard. She was a tireless champion for endometriosis awareness, a passionate supporter of therapy and healing for survivors of domestic abuse, and a steadfast advocate for mental health awareness, access, and destigmatization.
Children brought Rachel immense joy. She generously volunteered her time in neonatal intensive care units throughout the Boston area, where she lovingly held and comforted newborn infants with warmth and compassion. Animals were another profound source of happiness in her life. She treasured her beloved dogs, Coco and Addy, and her hairless guinea pig, Gabby, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
In addition to finding love and joy through her family, friends, and work, Rachel found an outlet of reflection and expression in poetry and music. She shared her writing, singing, and playing both as a mode of healing for herself and as a selfless gift of offering her fullest self to others.
In addition to her immediate family, Rachel is lovingly remembered by her extended family. She was the dear granddaughter of the late Shirley and Sol Freedman, Raymond Davis, and Selma and Sumner Fox. She was also the beloved niece of Murray and June Davis of Salem, MA and their family; Judy Davis of Swampscott, MA; Steven Fox and Terri Bernsohn of Evanston, IL and their family; the late Barry Fox; and Elaine Shapiro and Jim Cornblatt of Peabody, MA. Rachel also leaves behind close friends and fellow advocates with whom she shared deep bonds of mutual love and dedication.
A funeral service will be held at Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel, located at 10 Vinnin Street, Salem, MA, 01970, on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 1:00 pm. Burial will take place at Temple Emanu-El of Marblehead Memorial Park, 8 Buxton Road, Danvers, MA, 01923, immediately following the services.
Donations in Rachel’s memory may be made to organizations reflecting the causes she fiercely cared about: the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), the Endometriosis Foundation of America (EndoFound), and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
