

Robert M. Galpern, age 89, of Salem, died on Thursday after a lengthy illness at the Devereux House Nursing Home in Marblehead. Born in Lynn the son of the late Jacob and Celia (Todras) Galpern, he had resided in Salem for 10 years and formerly lived in Marblehead for 44 years. He was a graduate of Lynn English High School and Bentley School of Accounting and Finance. Mr. Galpern was a public accountant working for various accounting firms on the North Shore.
He served in the Army during World War II in the India Burma Theater.
He was a member of the Golden Fleece Masonic Lodge, the Mass. Consistory and as a Shriner he was active as a Minuteman and Aide at the Aleppo Temple in Wilmington. He was a past Patron of the Lebanon and Victory Chapters Order of Eastern Star in Lynn and Marblehead respectively. He was a member of Temple Sinai in Marblehead.

Dear uncle of Heidi and Wendy Galpern. Graveside services at the Pride of Lynn Cemetery, Lake Shore Rd., (off Bay State Rd.), Lynn on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. Memorial Observance Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Village at Vinnin Square Recreation Facility, 200 Loring Hills Ave., Salem.
