

The youngest son of Isaac and Etta Green, Samuel graduated from Boston English High School at 16. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Tufts University in 1951. He worked at General Electric in Lynn for more than 40 years designing aircraft engines. He married the love of his life, Eda Harvey Green, in June 1954. Samuel was predeceased by Eda who passed away in 2013. Samuel leaves four devoted children: Marcia of South Hadley; Robert and his wife, Colette Chaney, of Redmond, Washington; Steven and his wife, Susan, of North Reading; Paul and his wife, Sarah, of Wellesley and five granddaughters: Sara, Samantha, Caroline, Katherine and Elizabeth. Samuel was a long-time congregant of Temple Sinai in Marblehead where he served as treasurer for many years.
A service will be held on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 11 AM at Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel, 10 Vinnin St, Salem, MA, immediately followed by burial at Temple Sinai Cemetery in Danvers. The family will sit Shiva from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Samuel’s residence. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Temple Sinai Building Fund, 1 Community Rd, Marblehead, MA 01945, or the American Kidney Foundation.
